Random daycare center question

What do the teachers wear at your daycare center? My girls just started going to a franchise location of a national chain and I guess I was surprised that the teachers were wearing just regular clothes (jeans, sweatshirts) and some wear scrubs. It really makes no difference to me! I just wondered if this is the norm.

Re: Random daycare center question

  • At our DC they wear regular clothes but they have an apron over them. They actually have pajama days (still with apron over them)  for both the teachers and staff and its really cute!

  • Regular clothes - jeans and sweatshirts, t-shirts.  Capris in the summer.  They type if things that I wear when I am home with Billy.

  • Regular clothes.  Were you expecting them to wear a uniform or something?

  • I don't really know what I was expecting...maybe a polo with the center name or something. Like I said, I don't care at all what they are wearing and it totally makes sense that they'd just wear normal comfortable clothes.
  • In the infant room some of the older ladies wear a smock/apron thing over their regular clothes, but I'm sure this is just because of all the spit-up and other accidents that happen in that age group (still, I've never seen the youngest infant room teacher wear the smock!).

Sometimes the other teachers wear school logo shirts, but mostly they just wear their own regular clothes.

  • Regular clothes with gawdawful makeup.

Seriously horrible makeup - luckily they aren't there to teach beauty tips.

  • Seems like the teachers of the younger classes (infant, toddler) wear scrubs and the rest, including floaters and afternoon helpers, wear regular casual clothes.

  • most wear scrubs. some wear slacks with the school's shirt. I think they have to wear one or the other. I don't recall seeing any of them in "regular" clothing.

  • Comfy pants and shirts with the daycare logo on them four days a week.  One  day a week, they can wear what they want and actually they usually dress a little nicer on those days.  Probably they are enjoying getting a chance to use something else in their closet!
  • they wear logoed polos and khakis or logoed scrubs.
  • At my center, Mon to Thurs, they wear khaki pants and a blue top that has the company logo.  They also have zip up sweatshirts that they can wear over it.  On Fridays, its casual and they can wear jeans or whatever.  In the summer, they can wear capris but no shorts.

  • regular clothes with apron
  • Ours do wear a "uniform".  They wear dark slacks and polo with center name.  Some days the infant teachers wear the smocks, but not all the time.  When we toured we were told all teachers wear the "uniform" so that you know for sure who the teachers are (vs a parent).  They do have PJ days, they're actually having V-day PJ day next Friday. And they've had a dress down day wear they wore jeans, but they don't wear that everyday.

  • Our teachers wear "regular" clothes. I don't know that they wear jeans, but they do wear khakis/slacks and their own shirts. Since I'm a former teacher, I wouldn't expect them to wear uniforms, just comfortable clothes for teaching that are also appropriate (not too casual).

  • I used to work at a "Reggio" preschool (like Montessori). We did not have a dress code, but I dressed nice/casual. Preschool teachers cant be expected to dress up... they are down on the floor with the children all day among?obvious?other things (diapers, spit, snot, crying, playground...). Come on Moms, you know...

And, I do understand that they are at work, but just remember what their "work" is?

  • Mostly they wear jeans with yellow polo's with the center's name,  The director wears regular clothes.  There are a couple muslim women who work there and they wear a head to toe dress thing.  I don't know what it's called, but it it looks like a traditional outfit that covers their hair, arms and legs.
  • In the infant rooms they wear scrubs and the classes up to pre k wear the daycares shirt and comfy pants except for days like thursday which is pajama day or friday wear all red day. Days like that they have fun!

  • normal comfy clothes with aprons on over their clothes
  • I don't think ive ever seen jeans. I think our center can do khaki type pants, any color, with the dc logo t-shirt.

  • At our center, they wear any type of pants or shorts.  Most wear jeans.  For a shirt, they usually wear a shirt with the center's name on it, but I don't think it is actually required.

  • They wear scrubs w/ a logo on it. During the summer they wear khahki shorts and a logo'ed t-shirt.
  • The daycare workers where I take DD wear comfy pants and polo shirts with the center's logo on them. Pretty much what you would expect.
