Help me decide on stones for a bracelet

I would like a bracelet as a gift once the baby has arrived.  Originally I wanted either a sapphire bracelet (if boy) or a pink bracelet (if girl).  FI thinks I should get one that will have our birthstones and the baby's birthstone.  Our birthstone is garnet and assuming the baby is born sometime in July (and not early in June) the stone will be ruby.  What do you think of garnet and ruby together? I could also do just ruby but I feel like that would be more appropriate if its a girl.

    i say just ruby, i want to do something similar with rings, and get one for each child we may have.  If you do just ruby, you can carry on the tradition, if you mix it will be odd when it comes to your next (unless you are 1 and done, but still - ruby and garnet together is odd)

    Yeah I think the ruby and garnet are kind of odd together too especially since its so similar in color.

    I'd pick one stone personally. you could do pink sapphire for a girl. What color do you like more?
