...or should I say non HSG since I didn't even get to have it?? I went at 10 to get my HSG and the Dr. couldn't get the catheter in because he said my cervix was so closed. Of course I started crying and was so embarrassed. So I had to go to the RE to get dilated (which was so painful, and he had to give me 3 numbing shots, which didn't feel good either) and naturally I sobbed through that whole mess. Then I went back to the radiologist and he STILL couldn't get it in. So I went through so much pain and frustration and wasted 5 hours and $300 for no HSG. SO now I have to go back next cycle which won't be until mid-April since I never have a period on my own and my RE won't give me prometrium until CD-60. I will have to go to the RE to have the catheter inserted and they will tape it and then I will have to drive to the radiologist to get the HSG. Apparently my uterus is pretty tilted, which is also making it difficult. I am sobbing. I feel so stupid for thinking that a simple 20 minute procedure would actually go the way it should. I really really hate my entire reproductive system...What a bad day.

The things we go thru...
Yikes, that is horrible. My RE actually went to the hospital to do the HSG. The Radiologist just took the x-rays. Is it possible your RE can go to the Radiologists so you do not have to go through all of this.
So sorry!
i am so sorry you had to go through that
i have not had an HSG so i don't know what CD they usually do it on - but is it too late for you to try femara again? that way you don't have this break cycle?

I'm so sorry, that sounds terrible.
Is there not anything they can do to make it easier for you to do? Like your RE doing it at the hospital, like a pp mentioned?
I'd talk to them to find out, because the whole getting it put in at the REs and driving to the hospital just flat out SUCKS.

OUCH!!!!!!! Oh my god!!!
Any possibility they can knock you out for the next one? Maybe someone else can drive you from one place to the other. Holy Crap - that is just too much. I am all in favor of a little drug use after that kind of experience!
OMG that stinks. I can't believe that you will have to drive with the catheter in, that sounds bizarre and I really think they should not charge you if the test was not done?!
I had a bad HSG also- the first time, it was a PA who struggled to get it in & when she inflated the balloon, I passed out & proceeded to puke for an hour afterward. They did not charge me, however!!! The next month, they sent in a different person, who got it in super quick & I told him if I passed out, he better shoot that dye in & take the xray (which I did, and he did)... I wonder if you could have someone more experienced at the hospital do the catheter?
Also, I would ask for some Valium the next time. They gave it to me for my second one, which was great...except that the machine broke & I had to wait an hour so it was pretty much worn off. Oh well.
Good luck & I'm sorry it went so poorly
