VBAC or repeat C-Section

C-Section Mamas,

If you plan to have another child are you going to try for a VBAC or get another C/S?  I have to discuss with my doctor, research, and it all depends how far apart my pregnancies are.  From the little research I've done VBACs don't look very successful.

Just curious...

Re: VBAC or repeat C-Section

  • I really need to do some more research, but if everything goes well with my pregnancy I would like a VBAC

  • I had a great c/section experience so I will do a repeat c/s next time

Ditto, I also plan on talking to my ob about it as well to see what she thinks.

  • I'm not sure.  Part of me wants to try a vbac, but I don't know what the lesser of two evils is.  At least with a c-section I know what I'm in for next time.
  • After attempting a vaginal and everything I experienced with my C-Section b/c of it, I am going straight to the C/S.

DD got stuck after pushing for 2 hours and would not come out when they performed my C/S.  It was VERY traumatic and the 2 OBs were panicking, I think one almost passed out (she had to leave very quickly), DH almost passed out, and I ended up so drugged up I didn't wake up for a couple hours!  It was crazy and definitely memorable, but I will save myself and DH from experiencing that again and go straight for the C/S.

I agree. My c/s was great as far as major surgery goes. I would do another again and plan to for our next baby.

  • I'm gonna try for a VBAC.  I'd hate not to at least try.

I didn't want to have a C/S in the first place and do not want to repeat it.

  • C/S all the way.  my OB said i could try for a VBAC if i wanted to, but that more than likely it would end the same.  sure, she could be wrong. but i do NOT want to go through the hell i went through with charlie again! i will just pick a birthday and skip-i-dee-doo-da in.  flame me if you wish, but my labor was TRAUMATIC.
  • I had a repeat C/S so there is no VBAC option left for me for future pregnancies.

Yep. Same for me. My first was born vaginally, so we went with a Primary Elective c-sec this time around... I'd rather do a c-sec again than suffer with the pain I did from my vaginal tearing. :)

  • Definitely a repeat c/s for me.  I've done the 12 hours of labor followed by a c/s bit, and have no desire to repeat the experience.  VBAC's are 50% successful in the best selected cases... those odds are just too rough for me.
