Recs for Double Stroller

We'll be needing a double stroller for our nanny share and am looking for recs.  There will be two infants--3 months old or so--and used by our nanny for walks to the park etc.  We're looking for something that will hold up with uneven sidewalks and easy to maneuver, but not going to break the bank.

Thanks

Re: Recs for Double Stroller

  • I went with the Jeep Wrangler All Weather Twin Sport (long name!) side by side umbrella stroller for my kids who are 16 months apart.  Pros: it's about the cheapest one you'll find ($70-80), it folds compactly, reclines a bit, lightweight.  Cons: no basket, sun canopy's are dinky but very adjustable which is sometimes nice, it's definitely not "all weather", no trays or 5 pt. harnesses.  I've been happy with it though, it has served us well so far and the girls are happy in it.  It went fine on a lot of gravel the other day.  If you don't want to shell out a lot of money, this is a great bargain.

  • I guess it depends on the size of your bank.  There are a lot of clearances on doubles right now, so you can get a much better stroller for less money.  My rec for the cheaper is Tike Tech 360 double.  My other favorites are the Baby jogger urban elite (the one with the bigger tires), the Bumble ride twin, the Mountain buggy urban ($$$$), and the Easy Walker Duo sky.  I have seen all but the mountain buggy in the $400 range.  All have 2 to 3 year resale in the $100 to $200 range, depending where to live.
  • We have the Graco DuoGlider and I really like it.  One of our concerns was that it couldn't be too bulky (we both have small-mid size cars) and this one folds up just about the same as the single stroller.  The one we got was $205 on amazon.com with free shipping.  They have matching infant car seats, but we used the one we had from DS1.
