Since we're on MIL issues now....

I have an update.  I haven't spoken to MIL or FIL since Christmas.  I was pissed her before Christmas but sucked it up and did the Christmas stuff for DH.  She was rude at Christmas too.  Well, still haven't talked to her since because I refuse to without an apology.  She talked about me behind my back at my shower, and didn't mingle with the other guests or watch me open my gifts.  Then she wrote DH this nasty disgusting email that basically bashed both of us.  She also said in the email that she was going to send the curtains back that she had ordered for baby's room.  Well, DH went by there last weekend, and she gave him the curtains!!!  She didn't send them back.  That almost makes it worse.  You threaten me with sending them back, and then hold on to them, when they aren't even for me - they are for her grandchild.  Horrible lady. 

So anyway, I just feel like if I bow down to her and talk to her like everything is ok, then I am letting her know that it's ok for her to treat me like a piece of dog sh*it and it will all be ok!  Well - I do have a backbone you know......

    I'm working on boundaries with both mil and my mom. It's tough, but I am with you on the not backing down thing. Stand your ground firmly but without emotion ya know? Like, when a surgeon delivers bad news...it's his job, it's not personal, or emotional. That way he/she can do what they do for a living without completely losing it. If you just say what you gotta say w/o emotion and very matter of fact then you feel better about enforcing your rules b/c when they get emotional you're not invested in it.

    i personally would have told her to keep the curtains because we had already put some up since she made it clear she was returning them.

    Oh yea - she'll be getting them back...I already re-ordered them with my mom the other weekend!
