At what week approx. does Dr. start checking u for effacement/dilation?

Ususally 36w, but check with your Dr. as some OB's don't do internals anymore, or not until a week before you are due.

Usually at 36, but you can decline to be checked if you want.

35 weeks are when my internals started and they will check for everything including dilation and effacement during your internal.

I go at 35 weeks for my first internal and group b strep test. It would've been 36 weeks but that's Mardi Gras week and the office is closed.

I just went yesterday for my 34 week apt. and since I was almost to 35 they did the Group B test and checked then. I wasn't expecting it AT ALL - the test or the check for progress. I certainly would have cleaned up the lady parts had I known, ha!

But I was super excited to hear that I'm 2 cm and starting to efface a little bit. Yay for progress! Oh and while it was a bit uncomfortable it didn't hurt like I've heard.
