I had my 34 week appointment today. First of all, I love my midwife and have nothing bad to say about her -- she is very easy going, but sometimes I still worry.
So it turns out my blood pressure was high (130/80), I had some protein in my urine, and I gained 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I have some swelling, but not too much. These can all be signs of preeclampisa. She said they will keep a close eye on everything, but she is not overly concerned yet. I'm discouraged about it though.
My sister had preeclampsia in all three of her pregnancies, so I always have it in the back of my mind.
I also have SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction), which I know has been talked about on the board recently. When I talked to the midwife about it, she basically said there is nothing you can do for it. When I asked her if I need to use certain birthing positions because of it, she said no that shouldn't matter. But when I looked it up online, some of the websites say you can use a brace during pregnancy and that you should use certain positions during labor. One even said that a c-section is not advised and neither is an epidural, due to the painful recovery process.
Anyway, just worried and had to tell someone. I'm hoping everything goes okay here on out. I've been having BH all night too...ugh! Probably cause I'm stressed.

I am sorry you are stressed, I can sympathize with you though, I just had an appointment yesterday, and my blood pressure was 130/88 and they did find protein in my urine, so I had to do a 24 hour urine catch that I turned in to the lab today. On top of that I have GD, so I am like, of course my blood pressure is up, I am stressed about every little thing I eat, etc etc.
But as for the SPD, I would push her a little more, ask about the brace and stuff, if she doesn't feel it will hurt, perhaps it will help. GL
I will probably take some info I found on the net in with me to my next appointment...good idea.
My BP was about the same as yours last week (but remember we are all different) and my dr didn't like it at all. She sent me to another dr the next day he said it was find and keep working. Then they called me back in and the next dr said no more work after this week. I have to go in for a NST every week and a dr appointment every week. I would just keep an eye on the swelling (that's my biggest problem) and my dr said to weigh myself every morning. I don't have protein in my urine so it's hypertension.
My bp has been a bit high too (120/80) for the past few weeks, but the MWs I see aren't concerned because I have no other pre-e symptoms. I started freaking out about it though, and did some googling. From what I read and from what my doula told me, my bp would have to go over 140/90 for there to be a big concern. I'm just frustrated because I freak out, which keeps the bp high, which keeps me freaking out, etc. I wish I could just calm down about it.
I don't know anything about SPD, but I agree wiht pps that the research you are doing is helpful. Hopefully your MW will learn from what you bring it so that she will have more information for her next patient who has this.
