  • I am at $30 a month.  Sucks!  The funny is my prescription is $30.49.  My insurance company pays $0.49.  Nice, right?  Ugh..... I need to start taking the generics.  I can't wait to see the response.
  • I got a big ass bottle from rite aid for like $10 and they have lasted me my entire pregnancy!

  • Holy batman!  $40 a month!  No thank you!  I use the Target generic brand ... there are 200 PNV in there and it was like $7 or something.  I also take an Omega 3 Fatty Acid every day - got it from Costco.  It was like $12 for 500 pills.

  • Nature-Made Prenatals are wonderful.

    No constipation and no nausea.

  • What!? That's effing insane! When I found out I was PG I bought the walgreens brand of prenatals...I still have the same bottle. It will last me through pregnancy. They're working out just fine for me...Good idea exploring your options...You don't need to spend that much!
  • Wow that's expensive!  I buy some brand from walmart that has like 140 pills in the bottle.

  • I pay $35 a month for my prescription iron, and $10 a month for a DHA supplement.

I take Target brand PNV and got a big bottle for like $7 I think.

  • I get mine free at Meijer.  They're a prescription generic called UltraNatal or something like that.  My doctor just had to call in a prescription for me.

  • I got a huge jug of the Nature Made at BJs for about $16. It has lasted my whole pregnancy and will get me through breastfeeding, too.

  • I bought the walgeen's brand that was comparable to the Women's One a Day. It's two pills...the reg PNV and then the DHA supplement.

    I think it's like $20 for a 2 month supply.

  • i was paying the same thing until i asked my doctor if there was  another brand or cheaper ones that i could take.  He told me to take 2 flintstones a day.
  • I get mine at Meijer....they distribute them for free.

Check into it...it may be a local thing but it would definately help.

  • Target...it's really easy on the belly and the wallet.
  • I just take Flinstones, about $6 a month :)
  • You aren't alone. MIne are 46 dollars but I had an awful time in first tri getting pnvs down and the one I am one was the only one I could keep down on a daily basis. I will switch to a generic after the baby is born but I figure if they are working so far why mess with it.
  • I get the Nature Made.  Like PP they are great.  Only $13 i think they are.

  • I was taking Target brand, but I have anemia so now I have to take a PNV with iron in it.  It's 10 bucks a month.
  • I pay $30/month for my prescription Pre-Care brand.  It's worth it to me because they also have stool softeners in them and I haven't had any issues with constipation or anything else these past 7 months.

  • I take Stuart prenatals.  I don't think my doc cares what kind as long as I take them.
  • Mine are $40 per month but I've been slack about taking them that I think this bottle has lasted about 3 months now. The Dr said I'm not hurting the baby but need to take them to keep myself healthy. It doesn't bother me to take them, I'm just forgetful.
  • I take the Target brand. I took them in to my dr. and he looked at the ingredients and said they were fine. I'm still using the same bottle I bought when I got my BFP.

  • Mine are $69 every three months.  Ridiculous.  It's the kind the doctor prescribed for me, and they have never made me nauseated or anything like that, so I'm hesitant to change.

  • i take prefera ob for $70 for 3 months...

i recommend taking prescription over otc pnvs because (i work in the pharm industry) and Rx regulations are much more strict in terms of manufacturing practices, cleaning, quality control, etc.  Nutritionals like Nature Made really don't report to anyone and they could be sweeping up dust from the floor and dumping it back into the batches.  Pretty gross.

Worth the extra $$ for me...

  • I was paying $50 a month for my prenatals. Around 20 weeks I actually compared what I was getting from my Rx to an OTC prenatal and realized that I was wasting my money. The numbers were almost exactly the same. I have to take an extra iron pill anyway so now I just buy the OTC prenatal and an iron pill and save myself the $50.
  • I take the Target brand.  They are very inexpensive!
  • I tried 5 types, so I am very picky I guess. One all natural-no fillers, but I literally couldn't handle the smell...it was disguisting. Then got the CVS brand but didn't love them, felt they bound me up. Moved over to the GNC brand and those were my least favorite, to be honest. Alas, I found the Whole Foods brand and I LOVE them. I bought the 90 count bottle and it was only $15 or something cheap like that and I have been very happy.

Sorry for the long winded response, but I felt like I tried everything!

  • The manufacturer for most store brands, i.e. Target, Walgreens etc is a major manufacturer (can't think of the name right now, I am at work) that makes name brand over the counter PN.  I have taken both and they are working fine. The Target brand is like $10.00 and its a HUGE bottle......Those are the ones that I use. My OB says that most of her patients have good luck with these since they seem to cause the least amount of stomach upset....
  • That is nuts! I use the Target brand and have had no problem. Its like $7-8 bucks for a 200 quanity supply..

  • Yikes...I started taking them before I was pregnant and have only bought two bottles. Target and Walgreens.
  • I take the otc Stuart Prenatals. They also make the prescription DuetDHA. When I first started looking at prenatals, I found an independent test of otc prenatals and Stuart was ranked the best. They tested things like how true the labels are, and you'd be surprised at how far off a lot of other brands are, cheaper is not necessarily just as good because the label says it has the same ingredients. They also tested how quickly they dissolve, which I guess makes a difference because some didn't dissolve quickly enough to actually be absorbed by your body before being eliminated. Unfortunately, I don't remember all the details, or even where I found it, but I've been taking Stuart ever since.

and by the recommendation of my doctor, i also take Enfamil Lipid DHA.
