Weird Phone Call

So we have gotten a number of calls with a recorded voice that says they're calling from a debt collection agency and gives us a case #.  DH just always hangs up.  I finally called back today, and they had my maiden name connected to a $189 overdraft fee on a bank account.  I refused to give any info b/c I didn't know who this person was but said she could give me more info for me to confirm or deny.  Then she said, "You share this account with Timothy."  Um, no.  "And the last four of your social are XXXX?"  Nope. 

This is the second time I've had this happen.  My maiden name was associated with an unpaid credit card a few months ago, but again it wasn't the right SSN.  I'm glad my married name isn't so common b/c my maiden name is and seems to be connected to too many bad financial things!

    I would just run a free credit report on yourself just to be sure. ?Sounds like it could be a scam. ??

    Just did that!  I actually had my stepmother steal my identity about five years ago, so I check my credit report frequently.  Thanks for the tip!
