Review of Kaiser Sunnyside's remodel !

Hi ladies,

DH and I took our birth tour about 3 weeks ago, and we were very impressed.  The labor rooms were the size of a nice hotel room.  We had 14 people in the room, and it didn't feel cramped at all.  We could have easily had 20 people in there (so your husband, family, nurses, doctors, etc would all fit no problem).  The rooms all have mini-fridge, flat screen TV, dvd player so you can listen to music or watch movies, full size bathroom with huge bathtub (at least as big as a normal bathtub) and shower.  Hardwood floors and all of the medical equiment was hidden away in cupboards.  There's a nice comfy futon/couch, and a rocking chair that is very comfy also.  They have several birth balls on premises that you can use when you're in labor.  They encourage you to use many different labor positions, and really want you to be comfortable.  The cafeteria closes at 8pm I think, BUT the mall food court is right across the street if you want more variety.

All of the babies get a bracelet immediately, and if they get within 6 feet of the exit doors, a crazy loud alarm goes off.

The new post-delivery rooms weren't completed yet, but they showed us the "model" and it was awesome as well.  PLus those rooms have a nice view of the woods behind the hospital.

Rules: no candles, and no excess jewelery.  That's it!

Without having given birth yet, I give the rooms an A.  I was very impressed and am excited to have my baby there (in only a few weeks...eek!).
