Any SAHMs finding it hard to take care of other children?

I have 5 weeks left and for the life of me cannot find the strength to play with my two year old the way I want to. ?I nearly cry every morning when DH goes to work. ?Any tips? ?Pregnancy is flippin' hard.

Re: Any SAHMs finding it hard to take care of other children?

  • YES!  It is getting increasingly harder as I get bigger and more tired!  We moved MS into a "big boy bed" in a new room upstairs too....and let me tell you it is HARD to go up and down those stairs all day to change his clothes, diapers, play, etc.  And he's in this stage of resisting Mommy and running from me and not cooperating during diaper changes, etc.  Wears me out!!!  I can't move as quickly as I used to!  March 26th (my C date) cannot get here fast enough!

  • I know how you feel, and I have 7 more weeks left.  I work 3 days a week and am at home 2 days and I feel more rested at work than I do with my 15 month old.  I cry when I have to pick up DS and put him in and out of the car seat.  It KILLS my back!!!

We've gone to an indoor play area called Java Jungle with another friend of mine with a child the same age.  Play dates help, if you promise to bring snacks you can bribe some friends and use their house to tire out the kids.

Do you have an easel?  Lately, I've been letting DS draw me pictures and then sitting on the floor next to him or just put the paper on the floor and let them have fun with coloring.  Have you tried cooking together.  Bring all the ingredients to the table (so you can sit down) and mix up some cupcakes.  We sometimes listen to the music channels on our cable station and DS will dance up a storm.

  • I feel this way 110%...my husband travels for work and does weekly dinners and meetings after 5 pm and I cringe everyday!!! The other night when he came home @ 8:30, DD was screaming, the dog was hyper, and I was sitting in my chair nearly in tears. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't feel like an elephant in my house!!!!! I love my 2 y/o...I feel like I'm being a horrible mom. Luckily my mom lives 10 min away and helps out a lot!
  • I am 30 weeks and am already finding it hard to take care of my 2 year old and 4 year old.  DH is a pilot and away 15 days + of the month, so it is literally like being a single mom (kudos to them!)  Throw in 2 dogs and it can be a nightmare!  I second the playdate idea...we do that a lot and also go to gym type places.  Playdoh is a fun sit down activity that the kids enjoy doing with Mommy too. With the cold winter weather it is worse, as we can not get outside to let the kids burn off all that energy.  I sleep like a baby though!
