Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone's kid NOT have a "lovey"??

DD never had a paci, we dont use bottles anymore (she wasnt attached, getting rid only took a day), she has lankets in her crib that she sleeps with, under, on, whatever...but I could switch them out when Im washing them, etc....She has NO attachment to anything tangible really... I mean there certain toys she favors, stuff like that, but nothing she holds in her hand or that we cant leave home without.   Normally I would think this is a great thing, but lately Ive been wondering (since all kids seem 2 have something) if this is an issue??  Is that crazy?

Re: Anyone's kid NOT have a "lovey"??

  • We're the same way. He does still use a paci for going to sleep and he's still on bottles, he doesn't have a lovey. He has some "friends" who sleep in his crib at the bottom and he plays with them when he wakes up. He also has some favorite toys, including the Fisher Price Learning Puppy who has a broken ear, nose and tummy, but nothing he misses when it's out of sight.

  • DS is not attached to anything. He is very independent too. He loves to play by himself but has us play with him every now and then. The only time he is attached to us though is when there are a ton of strangers around, but thats normal.

Kyle is 1 year, 3 months and so many days. (My freaking tickers won't upload)

    Baby #4 is Due August 9, 2015.

  • No real lovey here. I have a couple lovey like things for him but I can trade them out or leave them home and he will not care or notice. He does suck is thumb some and if he feels the need he will use a cloth diaper, sock, or anything blanket like to suck with.

  • i keep trying to get her attatched to one but shes not really into it. im her lovey!! she laughs and smiles when i give it to her but she does not ask us for it and does not care if its not around
  • My son doesn't have one either.  He doesn't care what toys are in his crib, and he doesn't use a pacifier.  I have noticied lately that he will sometimes go to his crib and pull out his blanket, but he doesn't take it anywhere after that.  And it doens't matter which blanket is in his crib either.  I don't think it is unusual.

  • No lovey here. DD does nurse to sleep though.
  • not an issue.... DS is the same way and Daycare love that because at his age is when they start to break the habit of having a lovely so by 24months it's no longer an issue
  • DD does not have a lovey. Unless you count her belly button, she does love to stick a finger in her belly button and it seems to be calming to her. But at least it gets washed daily and we've never left home without it!

  • Nope, no lovey. She still has her binkies, but she's not freaking out if she doesn't have one.
  • DS is not attached to anything.

  • No lovies here - no paci's, blankies, stuffed animals or anything.  I'm glad -it's one less thing I have to worry about.

  • My older DD ( 2y 8m) does not have a lovie.  She has a certain blanket that she uses for naps at preschool and certain blankets and stuffed animals that she likes on her bed for naps but nothing that I can't leave the house without.  Nothing like my younger DD who, at 11 months, is very attatched to her brown little giraffe blankie.  I love this thing as it totally settles her down.  We got it as a gift and I bought a second one.  We only let her use it in her crib though and she's fine with that and goes to get it when she is ready for bed.  She is happy with any blanket or stuffed animal though so when we are out, I take other blankets with us.  She has a stuffed zebra at daycare that she fell in love with and any other kid that takes it needs to watch it!  She has claimed it.

  • DD is not particularly attached to anything. She has two stuffed toys in her crib that she will cuddle and play with, but she also regularly chucks one of them out onto the floor. :)?

I sometimes wonder if she's starting to get attached to the blanket that we put over her at night (it's usually the same one, but not always), because she sometimes seems really happy to see it -- but I wouldn't consider it a lovey at this point. ?

  • my DD is very independent and has not used a paci since she was 5 months old and even then she wasnt attached at all. She'd suck on it a bit then spit it out. She also doesnt have a lovey or a favorite item that she needs for comfort. Actually I take that back....she is a boobie addict and needs the boobs when she is really really really upset..which doesnt happen often.
  • DS is the same way. Never took a paci, has a few toys he prefers, but could live without them.
  • DD only became attached to something 1 month ago... I tried to give her things before and she couldnt care less... My mom got her a Penguin webkin because it was so cute and DD is so in love with this thing.. she hugs it and kisses it and needs to sleep with it at night now.

  • Kaleb recieved a large Ty penguin for his 1st birthday that he is attached to. Before that it was nothing, he used a paci but that's it. Now he has to sleep w/ the penguin. It doesn't have to be everywhere w/ us but it does have to be in his bed. Mason isn't attached to anything right now. He does suck his thumb though (no paci).
