Suddenly HATING bedtime at 2+yrs

Is this normal?  I guess we had a good run of 2 years.  DS always went down quite easily but the last week has been CIO of 30+ minutes, not showing any signs of getting easier.

Do I just stick to CIO and hope for the best?  Nothing has changed.  No changes in bedtime routine, food, naps, no sign of molars, ear infection, illness, etc.  (Just ruling everything out :)

Re: Suddenly HATING bedtime at 2+yrs

  • Something did change...he turned 2!!! lol!

Bedtime and naptime got harder for us. Naptime is often a fight and bedtime breaks my heart b/c he sometimes cries crocodile tears if he isn't tired by bedtime. He stays in bed and doesn't cry for long, but it still breaks my heart. I guess at 2 they are more aware that things still go on while they are asleep and they don't want to miss out.

  • We went through something similar but not as bad. My DD just wasn't tired at her bedtime like she used to be. She stays up a little later now and it has helped. How much time does he have between when he wakes up from nap and bedtime? DD used to be okay with 3 hours between, but now she needs at least 4 - 4.5 before she'll go down well for bed.
