Hi and congrats! I saw you post below about now u/s till 18 weeks. My OB office toldme the same. HOWEVER....Keith gave the puppy dog eyes and asked nicely "even though you found the HB on doppler, can we still get a u/s? My wife is a nutjob" The NP was so chill and sure enough I got one at my 1st appt (9w, 6 d) I am getting the early screen done, so I have to get one on Monday too.
Keith also told me to come by the ER on a slow night so he could do a u/s on me lol. I told him I didn't want to get him in trouble.
Re: Zaksbride>>Erin
Hey!! Congrat's to you too!! From your siggy, looks like you had an awesome wedding day!!
Believe me, I am gonna try my hardest to get one earlier. I am hoping if I pull the neurotic doctor card she will give in. And, I am just crazy enough to ultrasound myself in the back corner of an unused OR at 2 in the morning if I have to on call, lol! I hope I don't get caught doing it
Yes the wedding was perfact! The service and food @ The Tides was unbeleivable too. We got real lucky - it was 77 degrees that day so we were able to use the gardens for the ceremony. We left for Costa Rica the day after and when we got back to NJ 5 nights later it was only 40 degrees.
I am neurotic and Keith is even worse. I thought I had bad anxiety, but now his true colors are coming through and he is making me more nutsy. He even went as far to analyze the u/s and now he is making me paranoid lol.
How is your residency going? Keith has a busy 8 weeks ahead but he is coming to the 18 wk appt because he knows he has Ortho nights during the week I have the appt. He'll just ome with me after his shift. Our baby is due in late Aug so he is hoping to use Aug/Sept as his elective block. He'll prob do u/s since it will leave him a lot of time. Otherwise it's all ER months the rest of 3rd year. We only have 1 year and 5 months left here in cold, gloomy Buffalo. He'll be interviewing 1 year from now and we can't wait to move!!!
Ahhh The Tides - such a great place! You guys totally lucked out getting to use the gardens in October- that's awesome!
My residency is going well - finally got to start anesthesia (after a less than ideal medicine internship) last July. i am LOVING it! i'm working pretty hard during the week, but I have most weekends off, so that's awesome. Zack is plugging away at his surgery residency - he gets his butt kicked most days, but somehow still loves it! He starts doing research for 2 years (read 9-4 work hours) come july, hence why we thought now would be a good time to get pg. He will get to be Mr. Mom for the first 2 years, picking up/dropping off at daycare, etc - and after that, I will be done with residency! Looks like we will be in the boston area for a while, seeing as we bought a house last year!
Sorry to see that Buffalo hasn't grown on you much
Just over a year isnt that long - you'll make it! Any idea where you want to go after?
That works out well schedule wise. I hate my marketing job at the newspaper so we might suck it up and live off of his salary for the last 10 months of his residency.
Neither of us love Buffalo and we are planning on moving to NNJ or the Hudson Valley (where we grew up) I guess it all depends on where he can find an attending job. He already had a tour/prelim interview with a hospital near our hometowns. They know they will have an opening next year. That would work out well!
We didn't buy a house here. Buffalo is the kind of city that you could easil lose $$ on a house if you own it for a short period. Evidently Buffalo was one of few cities not effected by the housing crisis because it is such a poor city (you can get a house cheaper then a car here!!!) Avg house is under 100k.
I'm jealous that you may move to NNJ - I want to move back home some day so bad! Still working on convincing the hubby NJ is a great place to live though
Hope Keith's interview goes well - I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!
So good to "see" you on here - I was out of touch with the knot/nest world for a while since residency. just started coming on here when we decided to TTC - nice to see a familiar face
Yes convince NNJ is wonderful. Keith is kind of anti NJ and is really focused on the Hudson Valley but I may have convinced him on Mo-Town NJ lol.
It's good to "see" you as well on here. I also kind of lost touch with the knot/nest since a guy in my graphics dept caught me and ratted on me to my manager. So I try to stay off during th day. Ocassionally I pop on at night. I am mostly on the bump.
Anyway I am off to bed now because Keith has grand rounds in the AM and is begging me to come to bed now lol.
Talk soon...
