Help - pregnant & spotting :(

I'm a little over 7 weeks pregnant and I started spotting a couple of hours ago.  So far the spotting has been fairly minimal but when I peed the toilet water was definitely reddish.  I went in for a blood test and will go back for another Thursday morning, but other then that the doctor isn't giving me any advice.  I just want my baby to be okay.  Is there anything else I could do - bedrest or something.  I'm not having cramping and the nurse says it could be okay, but of course my only friends who have had spotting have eventually miscarried.  I could use some good stories and good thoughts right now.

Re: Help - pregnant & spotting :(

  • Lots and lots of good thoughts coming your way. Lots of people spot in the 1st tri and have healthy babies. Let me know if you need anything.

  • I had some spotting at 8 weeks and it turned out to be nothing. I hope the same is true for you!

  • Rest as much as you can.  I am sending lots of good thoughts your way.

I bled heavily for a few weeks with this pregnancy and he is fine.  I also spotted pretty frequently with Avery.

  • I experience this and was told bedrest, no lifting...not even your DS.  My limit was actually 5lbs for my entire first trimester.  Take it as easy as you can, let your hubby make dinner or call for delivery tonight.  Please know that I am thinking about you!
  • I don't have any advice but I will be keeping you in my T&P.  Try to rest and relax (yes I know easier said than done).  {{{Hugs}}}

  • I had spotting ... both red and brown, sometimes heavy and sometimes light for several weeks early on.  I had cramping as well (a couple really sharp pains that doubled me over).  I was SURE I was MCing.  I went to the ER and they did an US and found the site of the bleeding right next to the baby.  They said chances were pretty decent that I would MC but that I needed to be on bedrest for at least a week before being checked out again.  They said to have someone pamper me, keep my feet up, and not to lift anything over 5 lbs (as the PP mentioned).  I did everything they said and the spotting/bleeding continued anyway for a while.  Eventually it stopped and I went on to have a H & H baby.  She is about 15 months old now, running around the house, hand feeding herself anything I put in front of her, etc.  I hear that this bleeding is much more common than you would think.  But that it is important to take care of yourself (or rather let people take care of you) to get through it without troubles.

similar situation for me, though i ended up in the er and was diagnosed with a threatened miscarriage. i was put on bedrest for a few weeks and had a 10lb lifting restriction.

take it easy for a while. (((hugs)))

  • I spotted early in both pregnancy. ?It's a scary thing to see. ?Turned out I have an easily irritated cervix. ?Baby was fine both times. ?Hang in there.
  • I too had spotting, in addition to no lifting there was a "nothing in the vagina" rule. GL we're all thinking of you!

  • lots of good thoughts coming your way.  i spotted lots in my first and second trimester... it was due to being intimate with Handsome.  Just know that you can still spot and a lot of women do spot a lot in their first trimester - especially on the times when you would usually have your period!
  • I spotted off and on throughout my first trimester - scary to see but is definitely more common than you would think. ?I was told to go on pelvic rest (no hanky panky) for a bit.
  • Thanks guys.  Glad to hear its more common then I thought.  Guess I'll lay low until the doctor gets test results on Thur.
  • i also had a lot of spotting with Truitt. it's very common but take it easy until your tests come back.

  • Looks like the spotting has stopped for now.  I'm going to stay home from work today and get some extra rest.  Work has been especially stressful lately and we're having company in town this weekend (just what I want!) so maybe that led to the spotting.  I figure I'll clean a little, rest a little and see if I start spotting again.  Now trying to explain to Kian why I'm not picking him up is more challenging.  DH brought home flowers which was sweet but seems to think I'm going overboard with any thought of bedrest.  He made himself dinner (and ate it in bed next to me) but never bothered to see if I wanted anything until after Kian went to sleep.  Hungry, stressed, sore pregnant lady is not nice.
  • Men just don't get it sometimes.

Are we going to see you tonight?

  • Sorry, I'm late!  I had spotting when I was 8 wks.  The doctor did an ultrasound and the baby was okay.  The spotting stopped after a day, but I was put on "pelvic rest" for 4 weeks (which meant no dumping, heavy lifiting, s - ex, etc...)

    Thoughts for a H and H 8 more months.
