Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Moms of dairy intolerant babies

When are you introducing foods such as yogurt and cheese?  DS is now 8 months old and it's on the list of foods to introduce but he's been sensitive to dairy in my diet (I still BF), especially cheese, so I'm not sure when it's safe to introduce dairy foods.

Re: Moms of dairy intolerant babies

  • JD's gastroenterologist told me that he's not to have any dairy or soy until he's 18 months old.... I would call the pedi and ask him what he suggests for your child.

  • DD isn't particularly sensitive to foods in my diet, but she can't do milk-based formula (I EP and add formula for weight gain). We'll probably try butter on toast this weekend, then move on to yogurt in a week or two. DD's dietician said it was up to us. DH had milk issues as a child, but he was fine with cheese and yogurt, so I'm hoping DD will be the same.
  • My kid is a  little intolerant to dairy, and I tried yougart this past week and it was NOT good.  I'd definitely recommend holding off and discussing with your pediatrician.
  • I was going to bring it up at the 9 month visit, but I accidentally had a very small amount of dairy 2 weeks ago (still bf as well).  He was up fussing every hour that night and barely slept at daycare that day.  I'm not trying anything for awhile.
  • Thanks ladies.  I'll hold off for now and ask the pedi at his 9 month appointment.
