Babies: 0 - 3 Months

i caved. She started to cry so hard.

I was trying to get her to nap in the crib. She is 4 months old and has to be rocked while standing in order to sleep. She naps 4 times a day! That doesn't include bedtime! So I was letting her whine in the crib. It turned into crying so i went in to comfort her but as soon as she saw be she started SOBBING. I felt AWFUL. So, I picked her up.?

?

This is never going to happen. I will be rocking her to sleep after keg parties in college.?

Nah, hopefully the beer will knock her out.

  • Hey, sounds to me like you've taken the first step and tried it out.  Just keep trying...you'll get there!
(And LOL about the keg parties...my mom used to joke that if I went to the college that was literally 2 blocks from my house that she'd walk up there in her bathrobe in the evenings to 'tuck me in'!  Haha!)

  • College keg parties = bed spins....so maybe you'll be out of rocking duty since bed spins and rocking are similar :)

  • I rock DS a little bit before putting him down for a nap or at night. It calms him a little more. If he starts to cry I go make sure he has his binkie. THe way he lays in his crib I can walk up to one side and he generally won't see me so I can stick my hand in to find the lost binkie without him really noticing.

  • Oh don't feel bad! I would have caved as well. It will be ok.  Did you rock her to sleep and then put her down?
  • Will she sleep in a swing?  For weeks and weeks that was the only place my daughter would sleep.  She's starting to look uncomfortable sleeping there now because she can move around more so we are trying to transition her to the crib but it's tough.  I feel your pain, I know it's frustrating.

  • Have you tried the pick up, put down method, this really worked well with my Goober :)
  • Yes.  Colin still needs to be rocked and held for every nap.  At night he still needs to sleep with me.  AND we had to go back to swaddling.  And he refuses to take a bottle most days.  And he still wakes up several times a night

I am convinced that I will be nursing him, swaddling him, rocking him and letting him sleep with me until he is in college.
