How many of you DONT wash baby clothes before letting DC wear them the first time?

And when did you start doing this naughty thing? I hate how sometimes the clothes look so worn after one washing. Grrr.

I know DD is not reactive to laundry detergent... I am considering this. Is it evil!?

    I quit doing it about a month ago.  It was just getting ridiculous and he's doing just fine this way :)  He's usually ruining an outfit by spitting up or by my accidentally putting his clothes in the poopy diaper while I try to change him, so he's not really in them long anyhow.

    If you think about the fact that most clothing is shipped in a cargo ship, treated with chemicals to preserve in shipping, has rodents and bug exposure and 70% of people who touch the stuff in stores don't wash their hands after using the bathroom...you would wash everything before wearing.

    I read an article in The Washington Post 8-10 years ago and never washed my clothing before wearing...OMG I even wash my hands after handling it! Makes me vomit a little if I think about it too much.

    I still wash everything, but it mainly to get it to shrink.

    This is SUPER disgusting... but one time I got head lice from wearing a shirt before washing it.  So I am extremely paranoid of this ever happening again and I wash everything I buy before using it!!

    Don't feel bad, I haven't been doing it either.  DD is now 2 months old.

    I think that is gross gross gross. Who knows where it has been before you bought it and brought it home. Could have been dropped on the floor and stepped on... maybe someone bought it, took it home, and then returned it.?

    I cannot fathom NOT washing something before I or my child wears it. ?It's not about the laundry detergent... it's about the gross people at stores that touch things w/out washing their hands! I once saw a child pick his nose and wipe it on a rack of clothes at Gap- ew!

     ohhhhh geez!  Now i feel guilty for the maybe 5 items she's worn not washed.   some were in a package, so not as bad but for the ones that weren't?   I'm washing everything now.

    Well, I'm glad I asked! I will continue washing everything before she wears it. Annnnd now I will wash my stuff before wearing too, which I haven't been doing!! Eww.
