  • My DD's favorite gift from her first b-day was her Fisher Price Laugh & Learn table.

  • What about one of those personalized books from makeitaboutme.com?
  • We had the same problem.  We ended up getting her (and DD#1) anywhere chairs from PBK since she loves chairs these days.  We also got her a bouncing zebra but we might not have bothered since she is so not interested in it at all and a few other little things.  The chair was a huge hit, though, for both girls.

Cool idea, we'll check it out! :) (I like the other's,also, but she already has a Laugh N Learn table, and 2 elmo chairs, and a tiny table with chairs set :)

  • DD still rides her Chicco Play n Ride train that she got for her 1st birthday.  Best part: it requires no batteries and doesn't make lots of annoying sounds.  It's reasonably priced and has definitely withstood the test of time (I let her ride it indoors and out).

  • I second the PBK chair.  We also have a ton of chairs (2 table sets, and various others) but there's something about the PBK chair.  It's the only chair in DD's room and both she (3 and her sis,1) constantly fight over it!  We're gonnna have to get #2 one for her next b-day!

That said, for my oldest's first birthday, I knew she was getting tons of crap, so I just bought her one little thing.  It was the Leapfrog "Fridge DJ".  It plays catchy little songs about numbers and letters and the letters show up on the screen.  Small enough for them to carry around and even take in the car.  Also it hangs on your refridgerator.  She's a little over 3 and both girls still play with that thing!!  It's one of the few toys that has really stood the test of time!!  And it was only about $12!!!

  • Tricycle was a hit.  She needed help to ride it, but they make the ones w/ the handle for the parents to push until they get the hang of it.

  • I second the table!  DD just found it the other day (we took it apart and put it in DS's closet) and she was trying to put it back together again!  She LOVED it.
  • We got DD a Corolle Calin baby doll for her 1st birthday and she LOVES her! It was a bit pricey (well atleast in my opinion) but it was well worth it. She looks real (so many dolls look  fake and their eyes look scarey) and she has a nice vanilla scent not like some dolls that smell like plastic. DD will be 3 in June and still plays will her everyday. She is by far her favorite doll!
