I noticed on my name poll that Karolina is not very popular- which is totally fine, I didn't expect it to be as popular as some of the others- but I'm curious- are people reading it as Carolina like the state? It's pronounced Karol EE na. Just curious how people are reading it!
(My DH is from Sweden and has Polish ancestry. This name, it's spelling, my son's name and some of the others in my poll are from these cultures.)
Re: Karolina

Ditto. Don't compromise a beautiful foreign name (my great-aunt's, as a matter of fact) for the sake of the illiterate.
And it's not that odd a pronunciation, anyway. Italian designer Carolina Herrera pronounces her name that way.
Seriously. I would never change the spelling. I was just curious because I've never seen so much confusion over names' spellings and pronunciations until I started reading this board! Maybe it's because I live in the northeast, and it's more multicultural... or maybe b/c most people I know have traveled a bit... who knows, just guessing.... I don't know many people irl that would be confused by Karolina... or Rhys for that matter... so if I did end up using it, I would definitely use the proper spelling.
I would have thought Carolina. If you wanted it to be pronounced Karol EE na...I would change the spelling
Carolena (for example)
