Why do complete strangers need to know my due date?

It's not like we were talking about anything related to pregnancy or parenting.  As I was leaving work, I heard someone in our lobby ask me when I was due. I have no idea who she was.  I pretended not to hear.  Does this bother anyone else?

    Yes.  :o)  Everyone is far too nosy and thinks a pregnant belly allows people to comment on our bodies.

    It doesn't really bother me. It's just curiosity. If they have a rude reaction or something (like, "And you're already THAT big?") that's another story.?

    I don't really understand why anyone would mind. I can't say I've ever asked a stranger but I've definitely asked people that I didn't know that well. It is interesting. Like asking what is the name of the new baby. And if they work where you work they probably think they're just being friendly.

    Sounds like pg grumpy hormones to me.?

    Asking your age or your weight are HARDLY the same as asking your EDD. If you can't see that then you are the resident crazy pg lady where you work.

    I get this question all the time, and I've honestly never found it the least bit offensive. ?Not judging, but I'm kind of scratching my head on this one. ?I mean, I guess it would be weird if some random person just shouted out the question to me as I walked past, but it has come up in conversations with grocery store clerks and other people I really don't know.

    I think people are fascinated with pregnancy. They love a pregnant belly and love the mystery about what is going on with the baby (gender, due date, etc.). As long as no rude comments are made about it, I think it's sweet when people ask when the baby is due. It's just natural human curiosity.

    Agree. And people wonder where myths of pregnancy start... I've heard of pregnancy causing hearing deterioration and thought it was a myth, but maybe it was just rudeness.
