Babies: 0 - 3 Months

If your formula baby rarely spits up...

Do you think it has more to do with the formula?  Or the bottle?

Forgive the dumb questions, we're just transitioning from BF to FF.  :(  We're currently using playtex drop ins (Per the lactation consultant's advice - but since we're not BF anymore, I am open to change), and similac sensitive...

Re: If your formula baby rarely spits up...

  • formula or baby. We have 3 different types of bottles and he doesn't spit up with any of them :)

We use mainly Playtex drop ins and Avent bottles. If we're in a jam... the Medela one that connect to my pump have worked well too.

  • I think it more has to do with DD.  We use Dr Browns & Similac.

  • I think it's just a combination of her not being a "spitter upper" and maybe the formula - I doubt the bottle has anything to do with it.  She's only spit up maybe a total of 5 times since birth.  She has little spit-up sessions here and there where she spits up maybe the last sip or two of her bottle, but the full-out projectile spit-up rarely happens.  Since she's been drinking formula more, the spit-up hasn't increased at all.  She's on Similac Advance with the Immune System Shield.  We're happy with it thus far.  She's only been supplemented for the past few weeks.  We're doing the big switch to formula only when she hits 4 months on the 10th.
  • Formula for sure. Always have used Dr. Browns, so the bottles aren't the issue.

  • we use mylicon in every bottle.  my DD even has reflux but rarely spits up.  I think that when she is burping well, she spits up less.  we ran out over the weekend once and the poor kid was spitting up like crazy.
  • i think it has more to do with the baby and his / her tolerance of the formula.

fwiw, we are using avent bottles and enfamil lipil formula.?

  • I think formula & amount given - we use 3 diff. bottle types but she threw up when we fed her too much.
