Am I a creep (MIL vent-ish)

5 years ago DH grandpa gave him a truck, then took it back. It is still in DH's name. MIL came over the other day and said DH's grandparents aren't doing so well so we should stake our claim now... but proceeds to tell us that she is taking the truck for my 13 y/o BIL to have... I told her no that is our truck and I don't feel right staking claim on peoples' stuff when they aren't even dead... She told me that they would just take it then and not give us the keys to the truck (after a 5 minute discussion about how we have no right to have it) So I told he that was fine with me and I would just report the truck stolen... She left my house pissed and hasn't called DH since. Not that she ever comes by or calls anyway... Would that make me a creep if I reported *our truck* stolen if she felt the need to take it from DH's grandpa for her 13 y/o son?

  • Nope, I probably would if it were in my H's name.

  • If it's in your H's name, and Gpa is driving it, you probably won't have to do anything when he dies. The truck will be given back to you- and you should be able to tell the lawyers who work on the will that you have the pink slip for the truck and it's to be returned to you immediately.

Then, MIL can *buy* it off you, if she wants it so badly. Angel

    ditto...

sad what happens when people die.... sad that stuff makes people (like your mil) nutty.  wth woman! Your either father or fil is dying and your worried about a truck?  tell her to get her priorities straight and then call you about the pink slip.

  • I would report the truck stolen too!! What a nutjob! Last time I checked a 13 year old isn't legal to drive anyway-is the truck suppose to just sit for 3 years?

  • Wow, that's annoying. I'd definitely be tempted to report it stolen too, although I probably wouldn't have the guts to follow through with it. It's crazy that she'd rather let the truck sit for three years than let your DH have it back.
