Trying to Get Pregnant

Followup to Hyperthyroid dx

I posted on here a few weeks ago that I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroid disease and that was one of the reasons that it's taking so long for us to get a BFP. I had some additional tests done over the last few weeks and now finally have a plan of action. I am on medication, which is safe while TTC and during pregnancy, that I can take long term. Once I get my BFP, I will have to be closely monitored with blood tests to make sure that my hormone levels are safe. My doctor is confident that this was the reason behind my problems TTC.

I feel great and am really ready to get back on the TTC train. I've only been off for one cycle, but I'm still anxious to get back.

Re: Followup to Hyperthyroid dx

  • I'm sorry, I don't remember your pp in what T-disease you had exactly.  I'm hypo, and take synthroid which is safe while TTC, and will have to be monitored as well, but doc wasn't too concerned because mine's been under control for a long time.

  • Ok.  I've heard that this is def. more complicated.  I'm sorry to hear that, but I agree that it's great that you are back on the TTC wagon.  GL with the management of you T and w/ TTC.

  • Glad to hear the good news. I'm on synthroid too. My endo said if you are on top of it, it shouldn't be a problem so I htink your doc feels the same way. Best of luck!
  • Glad to hear!! What were your symptoms? I had my blood done last week to test for this.?
  • Initially I went in b/c my cycles were getting progressively longer and my periods were really short and REALLY light...like sometimes I woudln't have to wear anything more than a lightday for the whole time. After learning what the symptoms can be, it turned out that I had A LOT of them. Some of them were: racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, hand and feet tremors (where your hand and feet shake like crazy), being hot all the time (even in the dead of winter) and irritablilty. I was having most of those symptoms. I didn't have the eye bulging that can go along with Graves' Disease, thank God.

Let me know if you need any other info...I'm a fountain on knowledge now;)
