Weird breast question

This morning I noticed on the side of my breast there was a reddened area about a quarter size with a deep purplish center.  There isn't much of a lump there and it doesn't hurt.  I'm going to watch it for a few days and if it doesn't get better I'll call my midwife.  But wanted to see if anyone else had something similar.

    I would call your midwife today.  This could possibly be mestatis.  Do you have any other symptoms?  Is the red area start narrow at the nipple and go out in a triangular pattern to the base of you boob?

    I had mestatis and it totally sucked!  Felt like I had the flu.  But the sooner you catch it, the sooner you can start some antibiotics to kick the infection. 

    Not to be an alarmist, but if it goes untreated for too long you can develop an abcess, which would need to be surgically removed.

    OMG!  I just spit coffee all over!  No, not a hickey.  My husband would only wish he could be so lucky to get that close to my boobs right now.

    I've had the same a few times, it was always a clog. It went away 24-48 hours after I first notice it. I've had two smaller ones and then one about the size of a quarter.
