brown discharge? - freaking out!

I went to the bathroom last night and noticed some blood (brown) on the tp. Is this normal? I've had mild cramping since implantation, off and on, which I thought was attributed to my uterus growing. I slept so bad last night - kept waking up and worrying. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • I haven't but brown = old blood...and probably not a big concern...

If you are worred, call you doc =) GL!!

  • I had brown discharge at 5 to 6 weeks.  When I called my DR they said as long as it stays brown and light, it's perfectly normal.  Brown means old blood.  I was worried too but it was fine.  If you are extremely worried your Dr may see you and do some blood work to check your levels.

  • Brown blood is a lot better than red because it means that it is old.  I didnt have my implantation blood until last Saturday, I was already in the hospital and the nurse saw it and didnt give it another thought so I wouldnt be to worried about it.  I would metion it to your docotor though just to be on the safe side.
  • Since it's brown, it's old blood, possibly even implantation blood. Mild cramping is normal, brown discharge/blood is generally not something to worry about, BUT if it would make you feel better, call your OB for reassurance.

Try not to worry, LOTS of women spot (including myself) and it doesn't necessarily indicate a problem.

  • Brown discharge is usually nothing to worry about.  However, call your doctor to let them know.
  • Settle down.  Deep breath.  Sounds fairly benign.  But good idea to touch base with your doc.

  • I'd calm down, but also call the doc. They will make you feel much more secure and confident thatn we will. Also, I had brown spotting at 8 weeks and they let me come in for an u/s which really put my mind at ease!  GL!

  • I woke up with brown blood today at 10w6d; I have a call into my doctor but so far no one has called me back.  My prenatal visit is tomorrow so maybe they can squeeze in my actualy dr.s appt also.
