Does anyone have experience with this that would be willing to share? If you're not comfy talking here, we could email off-line. My main questions are about the injections and how do you give them to yourself. And the lame question of the day: How does your DH handle it? Does he do it for you or do you just to it yourself? (I know - lame question).
Re: Injectibles with IUI?
I've done 3 rounds of injectibles and IUI - the first 2 rounds were to get DD, the last round was less than 2 weeks ago.
I used Repronex and did IM shots, so they had to go in my butt. I know that some women can give these types of shots to themselves, but I've always had DH do it.
It really doesn't hurt much, just a tiny sting. But the needles are so much longer that the subQ shots and even longer than the trigger shot that goes in the butt.... and I just can't do it myself.
Before the first round, DH and I took a "class" at the REs office - basically we watched a video on how to mix the meds and how to do injections and then the nurse showed DH what to do and drew some circles on my butt to give DH targets to aim for! I made him practice giving shots on an orange before I let him do it to me, but he always did a great job.
I know I'm a couple days late, but I wanted to respond!
We got PG with DS on our first round of IUI with injects
I have PCOS and DH has "decreased" morph. We had tried Clomid alone for 3 months with my OB and all were BFN's. We then met with an RE.....I started taking Met (eventually worked up to 1000mg a day....) and I used 37.5iu of Gonal-F.
I had NO side effects on the gonal-f......it was easy! I think I was on the injects for about 7-8 days. I triggered with Ovidrel with ONE follie and we then did b2b IUI's.
We will be trying the same protocol for #2 around March/April
