2nd Trimester

Anyone else choosing "boyish" colors?

I don't know if my baby is a boy or a girl yet but I have decided no mater what I am going to do the nursery in aqua and sage green. I will also get a blue stroller/car seat. If it is a girl then I will do more of a spa/relaxing type theme for the nursery and if it's a boy I will do more of a dragonfly/bugs/grass type theme. Anyone else not embracing the traditional girly colors?

If I do have a girl there will be tons of pink and purple girlie clothes though!!!! hehe.

Re: Anyone else choosing "boyish" colors?

  • Sage and tan here. Once we find out the sex, I'll either add lavendar and light pink or blue and dark green.

  • yes, but that's only because I'm having a boy haha
  • I made the same choice when I was pg with #1- blue and green. I like it for both a boy or a girl.
  • I'm using sage and brown in my room, and then we figured we'd add pink & lavendar accents if we have a girl, and blues for a boy.  I have a cricut machine and plan to make vinyl decals for the walls.  We'll make the name decals in girly or boy colors for the walls.
  • We're doing our girl's nursery in bright red & lime green with accents of black and silver. Not traditional in ANY way, but we like bright colours, and we dont want her to think that pink is the only colour little girls are allowed to like.

  • We are doing Rainforest.  Everything will be mostly green with yellow, red, and blue.  I wanted bright colored items so that no matter what it was fun and could be used if we have a second child.  It does seem more boyish, but I like it.
  • Just painted dd's room a bright "sky blue" and am going to paint our new little girls room that color also...it will have flowers in all colors on the bedding. We also bought a turquoise and blue stroller b/c we loved it! That way no matter what the next one is, we won't have to re-paint the nursery or get a new stroller.

  • They think we are having 2 boys- but on the off chance one pops out a girl - we're doing a navy/orange/sage combo on the walls - and figure if by chance one ends up a girl we'll add Wall Pops flowers in those colors on her side to girl it up a little.
  • Same here - and pretty much the same colours!

  • I am having a girl and I am doing chocolate brown and sage green. I wanted those colors before we new she was a girl and I've pretty much decided to stick with that. We may add some plum purple as an accent as well. I am not a fan of pink bedrooms and I figure she will get a lot of pink clothes anyways,
  • I doing all blue, green, some yellow, and a bit of silver.  My nursey theme is stars and moons.

  • My friends painted their room a pale yellow for their daughter and now they are having a boy and don't have to re-paint the room. They just found a boyish bedding that had the light yellow in it and it looks great.

  • I think those colors are beautiful and relaxing. I've seen a few bedding sets that would work really well for that theme.

If we end up having a girl I'm going the girly route.

  • i'm doing blue and brown for our girl. i wanted neutral no matter what the sex, since we are planning for another kid in the future. i don't want to have to buy all brand new stuff if possible.

  • I'm doing green whether it's a boy or a girl mostly because I'm a San Franciscan and I want the nursery to reflect nature and have an "organic" theme.  I think aqua--the color of water--is also a gorgeous color to complement that.

  • I am going with a jungle theme for my little boy on the way.
