Rant: Only open during the week

Ok.. I am fully aware that I have been spoiled up until now. I am a stay at home mom so I can take my kid to story time, the YMCA etc whenever I feel like it.

But now, having an infant that can't leave the house means that Rylee and I can only do mommy and Rylee things on the weekend.

So we were so excited about going to one of the inflatables places this weekend. There are 3 in my freaking neighborhood... you would think that I would have my pick of places.

Well the ONLY one that is open for open play on the weekends is open on Sunday from 1-4. Not really a good time for us. Also, it is the only one that charges for adults. Why do they charge for adults? Grandparents are fre... maybe I can pass as Rylee's grandma....LOL

So, is there anywhere really really FUN where I can take Rylee this weekend and she can get all of her 2 month pent up energy out??

  • How about the Children's Museum at Union Terminal?  It gets a bit crowded, but Lily LOVED that place!

  • Allison and I just checked out the new McDonald's on Tylersville.  I was hoping for some freebies since today was their opening day.  No such luck--the freebies are throughout February.  They have a decent indoor play area, though.  There was a very small toddler area overrun with older kids wearing their shoes (grrr), but it's decent enough that I'm sure I'll take Allison again.
  • Amanda, I thought about the Children's museum but since I am nursing Parker I am on a bit of a time crunch and don't know if I want to drive all the way down there for an hour.

Lori, my mom suggest McDonalds but I am so anti fast food that it would feel wierd to take here there... plus I am sure it would be overrun by kids. Plus, I was hoping to go somewhere that I could spend some time with her and not just send her on her way

  • Are you anywhere near Totter's Otterville?  We had a great time with Caleb.  It was a little crowded on a Saturday, but Caleb loved it.  They had neat stuff for kids a little older too.

  • There is family story time at the West Chester library tomorrow at 10:30. I'm thinking of taking Nora.
  • Yeah, I always feel guilty taking Allison to McDonald's.  :)  She wasn't too interested in the food this morning, anyway, though.

I haven't been to any of these places, but here are some ideas:

    - Go Play Cafe on Hwy 42

    - Sports Plus in Evendale

    - Sharon Woods indoor play area

    - Mason Community Center

ETA:  Haven't been here, either, but Little Gym by Kroger is having an open house tomorrow afternoon with free play and structured activities.  I don't know if you have to sign up ahead of time or not.

  • marking for future reference.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • It might be far as well, but Newport Aquarium is a lot of fun. Jack loves going there. There's a lot of stuff to do there and you can do it with her! That's such a pain that other places are only open during the week!

I hope you find something fun!

  • Just want to check into some of these places :)

I assume you are talking about Bananas charging for adults - I was just looking at their website!

  • Hey, I was just looking into the Little Gym. If any of you are going, let me know.

Amanda, if you wear a hat, you might be able to pass for me since the pics they take are pretty small and you can use my pass to entertrainment junction.
