amber teething necklaces?

I thought these were for babies to teeth on but I'm hearing they have other benefits....any ideas on what they are?

    your baby shouldn't actually chew on the necklace.

    Thank you so much! I was thinking I didn't know how sanitary tree sap was since there was little knowledge on the environmental "stuff" that would be in it....thanks again!
