Stomach Flu :-(

I have been puking ALL DAY.  I am trying to drink as much as I can, but that keeps coming up too.  When do I need to start worrying about getting dehydrated?

Re: Stomach Flu :-(

  • thats how i was thurs. just drink gatorade, eat ice pops (really helps) and water. if you stop peeing, thats not a good sign.

  • i think if it goes past a couple days and you are urinating less and have a dry mouth you need to be concerned.  until then try and rest as much as possible and take tiny sips of water or what stays down the best - using a straw helps some girls.  good luck and hope you feel better soon.
  • :( I had that thurs and friday, just keep pushing liquids and get better
  • Yuk!  I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago (with some associated "lower GI" problems as well).  I probably let myself get waaay too dehydrated.  If you have not urinated for four hours or so, I would become concerned.  Especially if you are feeling dry, dizzy, or have a headache when you stand up.  If you can't keep any liquids down whatsoever, you may want to seriously think about going to the ER for some IV fluids.  Usually after about 12 hours, things will start to turn around.  Good luck, I hope you feel better!
  • Thanks girls.  I think that I'm starting to feel a little better.  It's been almost 24 hrs since this started, so hopefully it has almost run its course.  I have had 2 glasses of water in the past hour and both have stayed down so far.  I hope that I'm not pushing my luck, but I think I'm going to try a few Saltines.

This was yet another thing that my DS gave to me!

  • i had that two weeks ago and ended up in the er for dehydration.  call your dr and see what they say.  if you can't keep anything down, it's better to be safe and call.
