As a name for a little girl. My DH mentioned it last night as a possible. I like how it sounds but wonder if there will be lots of teasing. Would like to know your thoughts. Thanks!

It has really good association with it. If you have ever been to Ireland then you would be proud to name your child that.
I am sure that the baby will be made fun of because of her name, but kids will pick on your baby for a number of other reasons to. They are kids so you cannot not pick a name just because of that.
I really like it as long as you or DH are Irish. I wouldn't use it as we are not irish. I nickname would be Irie? Seems like more and more kids these days have unique names so I wouldn't think teasing would be a big issue with this name.

I think it's nice and somewhat popular. I think maybe Alec Baldwin's daughter is named Ireland. If she has red hair like you, it would be cute to go with an Irish name -- Maura, Maureen, etc. Here's a site full of them.
Re: Your thoughts on Ireland.....
It's NMS. DH & I are really into all things Irish. We have Irish names on our list, but I don't think I would actually use the name Ireland.
It is cute. I like it for a name.

I agree. Sorry!
I really like the idea of the spelling "Irelyn" and My DH MN is Linn.
It shall go on our girl list.
What about Erin? Erin (or Eireann, as I think it is spelled in Gaelic) means Ireland.
Although I am biased. My name is Erin. And I prefer that to Ireland, I think.
That makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Too Yoonik.
I like it.
