We have Blue Cross Blue Shield and get statements whenever we see a doctor, have a procedure done, etc.... it's not really a bill, but just lets us know what the Dr. charged and what our insurance paid. ?We are fortunate to have wonderful insurance (only paid $15.00 copay first OB visit, and everything else including birth is covered 100%) but for labor and delivery, room and board, lab tests, and medications, the hospital charged our insurance company $24,000!!! ?Holy shiznit! ?And I had a normal vaginal delivery! ?Crazy!?

Re: L&D/hospital bill
I'm so damn curious to see what my bill was. I was in the L&D room for 30 minutes, gave birth unmedicated and and ER doc attended just as my little guy was about to come out.
I had my meals of course, some tylenol for post-partum cramping and was discharged the next day. Usual blood work done on baby, of course.
I'd love to know how much that cost.
holy crap! So far per our United Health Care (which is what we unforuntatly have lol) account, 2,000.00 for the Anesthesia, 2,300.00 for my OB. 3 days prior to that we went in to get an U/S done, which shows over 1,200.00 PLUS another 500.00 for the radiologist portion. which i don't get, but have to pay a portion of each.
So...wow 24,000 is insane! So far we're probably have been looking at 6k for just the birth, not anything else. We had a c-section.
OMG! ?I can't even imagine! ?I really hope that you have fantastic insurance!
