No to Tylenol "Sinus" med???

I've had a horrible headache for the past 4 weeks. I called my doctor and she thinks it is sinus related due to my symptoms (I have bad allergies and work at a filthy mildew/mold/dust infested school). She told me to try Tylenol "Sinus", so I went to Walgreens to purchase it. The pharmacist (who just so happened to be helping a customer in the cold medicine section) told me not to take it. He explained to me that one of the ingredients in the medicine was not safe for the baby. So, I left it and bought "Head On" instead (cheesy I know...but I'm desperate). Question is: Who's opinion should I value most: the pharmacist or the doctor's? Just want to hear some of your opinions.

  • I took Tylenol Sinus and Sudafed earlier on this season for a sinus infection. That said, mine got so bad I ended up on antibiotics.?

  • My doc said no to tylenol sinus...just plain tylenol was all he would allow. All doc's are different...

  • I value both the doc & the pharmacist's opinions.  That being said.  Try plain Sudafed (behind the counter) and Tylenol together.  That has helped with my sinus headaches.

Also, I drink a glass of coke when I feel a really bad headache coming on-- it has helped.

  • I would trust your doctor - a lot of pharmacists will say something is not safe for the baby if it is catecorgy C.  Which usually just means there is not a whole lot of research on it.  You could always call your doctor on monday and see what the effects are - it may be something that affects 1st tri but not later on.

  • FYI - tylenol sinus daytime is: tylenol + sudafed.  tyneol sinus severe is: tylenol + sudafed + guanifesin [ingredient in robitussin].  so if your doc ok'ed sudafed, tylenol sinus is fine.

  • My doc ok'd everything Tylenol.
  • My doctor recommended Tylenol Cold & Sinus.
  • My dr. said it was ok. I have taken a lot because I get a lot of sinus infections. You should do what you are comfortable with!

  • I believe that pharmacists aren't really allowed to recommend much for pregnant women. ?I have encountered it multiple times. ?They can't make recommendations like your doctor can. ?I would go with your doc's opinion. ?FWIW, I also have been told that tylenol, sudafed, and?guifenacin are ok, so my doc agrees with your doc.

  • Tylenol Cold and Sinus was on my list.  I had a cold this week and tried it.  It made me drowsy and loopy.  One dose was enough for me.  My poor coworkers just had to listen to me blow my nose for two days.

  • My doctor said no to any of the combination tylenol meds like tylenol sinus or cold. He said to use bendryl allergy or sudafed (the kind you get behind the pharmacy counter).

  • I know that you may think Head On is cheesy, but it honestly works wonders for me.
