If we would have had the test, he would have gone. However, we decided that the NT scan was not the best decision for us.
If you don't mind telling me, what were your reasons for not having one? Before I got pregnant I wanted to do it so I could have an early ultrasound (I only get one at 20 wks) Now that sounds like stupid reasoning to me. I don't think we are going to do it because no matter what we are terminating the pregnancy and sometimes the scans can be a little off and then I'd worry the rest of my pregnancy.
I'm trying to stay positive. ?He may be able to go, depending on when my appt. is. ?I thought I had another week to have the testing done as it turns out it has to be by this Friday and my DH's work schedule is already made for this week. ?They'll be calling me on Monday morning to let me know when the appt. is. ?I pray that he'll be able to go.
My DH came with me - it was the first US that he got to see [he can't come with me to my regular ob appts b/c of his work].
I wanted to be prepared - that's why I got the test. I would have gotten an amnio if it came back abnormal. I did not want to go through the whole preg then be upset in the delivery room if the baby had down's [although there is still a small small chance that could happen]. If you don't want the additional testing [amnio] if something comes back elevated, then maybe you shouldn't get the test.

If you don't mind telling me, what were your reasons for not having one?? I don't think we are going to do it because no matter what we are terminating the pregnancy and sometimes the scans can be a little off and then I'd worry the rest of my pregnancy.?
We did some research, talked to several people who have had the scans and weighed the pros and cons and, to us, it just wasn't something we wanted to go through. ?I know at least 3 people who have gotten false positives from the scan which led to unneeded follow-up tests and stress. ?One example was my SIL who was told that, based on the results, her baby had Downs syndrome. ?She went through several follow-up tests and 2 weeks of stress only to, thankfully, have a healthy baby. ?It turns out the large neck measurement that the tech took that indicated a Downs diagnosis was actually due to the baby's hair.?
DH came with me. The tech first does this business of the scan, where even you can't see the screen. Then they call DH in after about 10 minutes, turn the screen so that both of you can see everything together. It was awesome; baby was active (punching, kicking, rolling around). You could see the heart beating. If DH can't get off work, can you bring someone else important to you to share? Whether the scan goes well or not, it would be nice to have some support there other than the unknown tech. Don't forget to ask for pictures, so DH can at least see the still images. Good luck.
My husband went with me because he wanted to see the ultrasound. I was glad he was there because the baby had changed so much from our last ultrasound.
