We love ours. We have walked all over London with it and used it in airports/train stations with great success. I know some people prefer a wrap but for us the carrier was the better option.
I have the snugli or whatever it's called from Target (like $20) and it's very comfy and DD loves it. Looked to be basically the same concept of baby bjorn and WAY cheaper!
For the money, I'd get an Ergo (https://www.ergobabycarrier.com/). There's some debate about whether Bjorns are bad for babies' hips, but most everyone agrees the Bjorns are hard on parents' backs. Ergos are the same concept but made so they are easier on mom and baby.
Look for a carrier with a waist band to support the baby's weight to your hips. Other carriers can also be used front/back/hip carries for kids up to 35-40lbs. The Ergo is the most mainstream soft structured carrier that meets these requirements. Also popular is the Beco. I have tried them both (and many more) and prefer the Connecta, but I would take an Ergo/Beco/Yamo/Moshi/AngelPack LX/Olives and Applesauce/etc. carrier over a Bjorn any day.
NOOOOO! I totally prefer a wrap over a baby bjorn. Try carrying your DC in one as he/she gets older and you will find that they hurt like hell because they give no back support and kill your neck. I can still carry my son in my wrap and he's 24 lbs. Comfortably. I would recommend borrowing a baby bjorn first to see if you like it. If you can't comfortably carry your child for at least an hour, go to the wrap. I carried my son when he was 13 months old and probably about 19 or 20 lbs in my wrap at the horse races for 4 1/2 hours and he nor I had no complaints!
ps- try a few things out with your baby before committing. ?My baby HATED wraps and slings, but went right into the Bjorn and fell asleep. ?I don't think it's uncomfortable at all, and I've worn him in it for long stretches of time when we've traveled by air.

I hated my Bjorn so bad I felt guilty giving it away to someone who really wanted it. It was hell on my back.
But I LOVE my Ergo. It will also last a lot longer because you can vary the carries. My dh loves wearing the Ergo too. And Kate giggles when she sees us bring it out because she loves being in it.
Yes! I absolutely love mine! I have used it since the day after I came home from the hospital. I don't know how anyone gets anything done without one. I got one for 10$ on Craigslist and one for 7$ at a consignment shop. I washed them and they are both perfect! My sisiter highly recommended it to me and now I definitely recommend the bjorn.
2. The research supposedly linking them to hip problems (?). I don't really buy it because I feel like they'd be taken off the shelves if they caused a health problem. However, I cannot bring myself to use it for too long because that's been put in my head.
One thing to watch for with the Ergo is that, based on my understanding without owning one, baby cannot face forward in it. My DD LOVES facing forward so she can see everything. She gets frustrated if she's facing me.
I also use my Moby for forward-facing, and it's more comfy on my back, and dd is in more of a sitting position. It's just more inconvenient to put on in a parking lot, etc.

good luck
I absolutely LOVE mine, we use it all the time, and DS is a big boy (17lb)- it still works really well and is comfortable for us both.
Check Craigslist too! ?I got mine for $35- some lady bought it and didn't like it, so it was nearly new.?
