Busted- NBR

A few years ago, I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that didn't happen. The groom left 45 mins before the wedding. While I hated that I spent so much money on the dress and alterations I actually really loved it and swore I would wear it sometime anyway. A year or so later, I wore it to another friend's wedding. (And if I ever get around to shortening it I will wear it again as a party dress...)

Anyway, I made an effort to hide from the original bride/friend that I wore the dress. I don't know- I felt funny about it since she chose the dress for a wedding that didn't happen.

We lost touch and I haven't thought about it lately. Today, she found me on Facebook and some pics from the wedding I wore the dress to are on there. I feel bad. It's uncomfortable, right?

    Honestly if my wedding was called off I would be hoping I didn't burden people and if I saw that my bm wore the dress I picked out it might sting for a minute (considering the circumstances) but I'd be glad she found some use for it.  Don't feel bad.  Why let it go to waste?

    Nah, I wouldn't think twice about that. It was your dress that you spent money on and it's not like you could return it.  I don't think any friend would want it to go to waste if you had a chance to wear it again.

    I'd be excited that you got to wear it after I'd left you with the cost of it from y unsuccessful wedding.  I say leave the pictures up right where they are.

    Ok, thanks ladies! Of course it makes sense to wear a dress that I paid for and no- I couldn't return it. I guess I just worried that it may have hurt her feelings. Hopefully she sees it the way you guys do! :)

    Well I understand where you're coming from.

    But hopefully she is mature enough to realize that you shouldn't be put out with a dress that you own.

    so many people have similar bm dresses anyways.  One of my DH's friends had bm dresses that were exactly the same as ours, just a different color.

    I can see how you would feel weird about it.  But, she should be the one feeling weird about it. She asked you to buy that dress for her wedding, that ended up not happening. At least you got to make good use of the dress! I wouldn't worry about it.
