2nd Trimester

For those that have felt your baby move

1. How far along were you when you first felt baby?

2. What did it feel like?

3. What did you think it was? (Actual baby, gas, or something else)

I haven't felt anything yet (or at least I don't think so) and am afraid that I won't know when I do.

Re: For those that have felt your baby move

  • 1) 16 weeks

    2) Like my stomach does on a rollercoaster (turning feeling)

    3) I just thought it was weird. The more I felt it, the more I knew.

Now I feel def kicks...and they are getting more and more frequent.

  • 1.  I was prob. at 18 weeks or so, but at that time was like you and not sure if what I felt was baby or gas.

     2.  Flutters.  I know this is annoying but no other word for me would describe it better.

    3.  At first I thought it was gas (or maybe I had to go to the pot), but as the weeks have gone by I know it's baby :)

  • Maybe 18 weeks? Mine felt like muscle twitches. I think I over-looked them for about a week. They started out pretty subtle, but every week they get stronger.

  • 1. How far along were you when you first felt baby? I haven't felt this baby yet but with DD I was 16 weeks.

    2. What did it feel like? popcorn popping or a little fish flopping around

    3. What did you think it was? (Actual baby, gas, or something else) I knew what it was right away, I'd never felt anything like it before.

  • I felt quickening at 17 wk....felt like something crawly in my stomach and some tightening...nothing like gas (and trust me...I know gas...unfortunately).

Felt an actual small kick yesterday - 18 wk 5 days!  It felt just like a kick...but haven't felt it today.  Supposedly no consistent movement until 23 wk or so...

  • 1. I was about 17 1/2 weeks, but this is baby #2 and my doctor said I would feel it earlier than last time.

     2.  Hard to describe what it feels like...someone poking you real lightly from the inside?   little butterfly flutters?  It gets much easier to tell later on when they actually kick you!  :)

     3.  Since this is the second time, I knew what it was.

You may not know at first, but you'll eventually realize it's the baby!

  • Well, this is my 2nd baby so I guess I probably know what I'm feeling from having felt it with my first baby.  However, I do remember it being early with that baby too.  For me, with both babies, it has been at 16-17 weeks.  I think it depends on your build and so on as to what you feel.  Mine actually feels like a little something moving around in my belly.  I'm a pretty petite person though.  It also kind of tickles me.  You might kind of relate it to how gas moves around, but not like a gas pain.  :)

    1. How far along were you when you first felt baby? 20-ish weeks

    2. What did it feel like? someone flicking me with their index finger, only from the inside

    3. What did you think it was? baby because it was always happening in the same 3 spots over the course of a few days and it was never followed by a fart :)

  • 1. I first felt the baby move at 16 weeks. My husband was able to feel the baby by 18 weeks.

    2. Its really hard for me to describe exactly how it felt for me, but I guess it felt like a mix between muscle twitches and butterflies in my tummy.

    3. At 16 weeks I thought it was gas or my stomach growling, but when it became more frequent, I knew it was the little guy :)

  • mid-17th week for me...and it was like popcorn popping or a finger tapping from the inside. ?It was definitely a different feeling for me, so I knew it wasn't a normal stomach feeling.
  • 1. 20 weeks or so

    2. ?I think it kinda tickles. ?It is a wierd feeling

    3. ?At first I thought it was gas, but after about a week I knew it definitely wasn't.?

  • I was about 18 weeks.  It feels like muscle twitches to me rather than fluttering or popcorn.  I really thought it was muscle twitches until my doc told me what it really was.
  • 1.  14.5w this time.  With DS, I didn't feel ANYTHING until 20w.

    2.  This time it was a tight feeling and pressure.  With DS it was a full blown kick (my DH felt it for the 1st time the same day I did!)

    3.  With DS, I assumed everything was gas until it was inmistakable.  This time, I thought maybe it was a early BH (I never had those with DS that I could feel), but then it become obvious what it was.

  • 1.  15 weeks

     2.  Muscle twitches

    3.  I still don't get that excited over it because I am always like....what the heck was that...baby or a muscle twitch.  The more I feel it the more confident I feel about it being the baby.  Nothing has been too consistant yet.

    Going to be nice here....

1st- Every girl and their body and their baby are differant!

2nd- When you feel the baby- You will know what it is!!!!!

Relax- Your time will come. I didn't feel her consistently (sp?) until after 21 weeks...

  • I first felt him at 18 wks - I had my belly pushed up against my desk at work and he went tap, tap, tap - and I was like what was that - felt like a muscle spasm but he'd only do it when I was pushed up against the desk.

In the first week or so (and honestly even now sometimes) I thought it was gas - but there were never any burps or farts (for lack of a better term) and then by 19 wks I was feeling him daily (at least once during the day and every night when I would lie down in bed - but it was usually a very light feeling). By 20 wks I was feeling it more often and now I feel him most of the day - especially after/during eating.

    2. It felt like rolling.  Like how your cheek feels if you roll your tongue inside it (Does that make sense?  Not what the tongue feels, but actually how your cheek feels.)

    3. It was different than anything I'd felt before that, so I knew exactly what it was.

  • 1. Around 17-18 weeks.

    2. Like someone poking/lightly flicking from the inside. Also a lot like muscle twiches. If you can actually catch the baby in the act, it looks like a muscle twitch (I noticed for the first time a few days ago).

    3. I don't think it's super obvious at first. The bigger the baby gets, the more unmistakable it becomes.
