Pi$$ed at my work!

So, before I went out on leave I negotiated to take 8 weeks off full time and 8 weeks off part time, working from home.  A few weeks ago they announced all exempt people were taking a 5% pay cut and no increases for the year.  This was not much of a shock considering the economy.  BUT, then I talked to my manager yesterday and in so many words he told me they were going to nix my working from home pt and I would need to come into the office!  WTF!  We arraigned and got this approved by my SVP like 6 months ago!  I know I should just be happy to have a job at this point, I'm just pissed that now I have to figure out if I want to just take 4 extra weeks off ft instead of 8 weeks pt.  The cost of going into work three days a week (I work about 35 miles from work) and commute time (45 minutes to 1 hour, each way) makes it hardly worth it.  WWYD?

Not permanently, DH is self-employed so I carry our health insurance.

  • If it's an option, I would take any extra time off.  I'm sorry you have to deal with this.  ((HUGS))
  • Do you have the arrangement in writing.  I don't think they can renig on it if you've agreed to it in writing.  That said, I'm so sorry.  I'd also try to take as much time at home with them as possible.  Sorry you're going through this!

I don't think I do.  My original proposal was in writing but when my Manager presented it to the SVP I don't think she approved it in writing.

I have a new Director who really has the final say (I think my SVP will stand behind whatever she decides), I'm going to talk to her next week to see what we can work out.
