carrying twins? come on in!

So I want to wait until as late as possible to inform my work, but I'm scared that I wont be able to hide it past 10-12 weeks!

I'm only 6 weeks (and this may be still partly bloat) but my work pants are digging into my waistline bad. (red marks when I take them off)

How far were you when it was obvious?

IUI#1 - 05/20/08 = BFP! M/C - 14 weeks :( baby girl
IUI#2 - 01/07/09 = BFP!!! Twins!! Pre-term labor 20 weeks :( lost twin girls
IUI#3 - 1/31/10 = BFP!!!! M/C - 8wks :( again
IVF #1 - 7/2010 = c/p
FET - 9/2010 = another c/p
IUI#4 - 2/14/11 = BFP!

  • I'm no longer carrying them all in one place (ba dum dum) but I was pretty obviously showing around 15w.

  • I started wearing maternity pants around 10 weeks but this is my 2nd pregnancy so I 'popped' a little bit sooner. Have you tried using a bella band?
  • I noticed my co-workers looking at me differently around wk 11 an d1 even asked me.  It was pretty obvious on me by 13 wks.

  • I've already had my twins, but I didn't start showing until almost 18 - 20w (I'm 5/7, average build).  I told immediate co-workers around 14 - 15 w.  Funny thing is when I went out on bedrest at 24w many people in my office didn't even know I was pregnant!  Surprise  I didn't really pop out until the end and I ended up having almost 9lbs of baby at 33w!  I have no idea where they were hiding that whole time!  :)

    Good luck!

  • I told my work at 12 weeks, I think some people had suspisions.   I have a small frame and even the couple extra pounds were obvious. I had to start wearing maternity clothes around 15/16 weeks.

Have you tried using a Bella Band? You put them over your pants, so you can unbutton them, and they still stay up and no one can tell your pants are undone.

Right now it is most likely bloat, but that bloat will soon be replaced by babies!

  • I want to say that it was obvious at 12 weeks.  Plus, there are lots of moms and grandmas in my office and I think they figured it out even before that.  But, this is my 2nd pg, and DD was just under 12mos when I got pg, so I wasn't totally over my post-baby body to begin with!

I was going to say that you could wear loose sweaters, etc, but I am noticing that you live in So Cal, so that is probably not an option!  Ditto the idea about the Bella band.  Plus, there are lots of non-maternity flowy type tops in stores right now, you could use those for a little bit.

  • I gained the weight and it was obvious to me after about 10 weeks, but no one could tell at all.  I had to tell everyone until i was about 16 to 17 weeks.  I literally just popped out over a two day period.  I'm still not really big but you can clearly tell.  I would say 14 to 15 weeks is def safe.  Just get a bigger pair of pants that are comfy to you.  I learned that wearing your cloths that were tighter just made it a little more noticable.  So just be a little more cautious on what you're wearing, but don't worry I just really started wearing Maternity cloths like a week or two ago, and  I still wear a lot of my regular cloths.

  • My bump became pretty obvious around week 12.  At 14 weeks, I can still get away with wearing 2 pairs of dress pants (a bella band) that were a little big on me pre-p, but I have a feeling I won't be able to fit into them in the next week or so.

I told work fairly early -- simply because I was too excited not to share :-)

  • i was horribly bloated right away- and it was my 2nd pg - so i was showing pretty fast (or at least looked pg very fast).

but my boss' wife was pg with twins (her 2nd pg) and i couldn't tell at all when i saw her around 17w - everyone carries differently.

  • I didn't need to wear maternity pants until around 15-16 weeks.  I told my work right away (started a new job at 13 weeks) but didn't have more than bloat until 15-16 weeks.  This was my 1st pregnancy.
  • I'm 10 weeks and I'm pretty sure I am suddenly in the last few days at that point where people suspect, but are afraid to ask. This is also my second pg, so I figured I'd show sooner.

  • When I told those that I work with that at 13 weeks that I was pregnant, they told me that they had already known for at least a couple of weeks!
  • I totally understand!  I'm only almost 9 weeks and I feel like I already have a little belly and I have actually lost a couple of pounds.  Its my 2nd pregnancy so maybe that makes a difference, but we aren't telling people yet.  I get lots of comments on how tired/exhausted I look though so I have a feeling no one will be surprised when we do decide we're ready to tell.  Most days I just unbutton my pants after lunch.  Then I try to stay in my office.
  • My belly started showing where my DH noticed at around week 12.  I think it started to become obvious to the rest of world around week 15.

  • I'm going to second the BellaBand suggestions (or whatever other brand works for you).  When I told work at 13 weeks, only one person had guessed already.
  • I told my work at 12 weeks.  I didn't really start showing until about 17-20 weeks.  There are pictures in my blog if you want to see.
  • 13-14 weeks it became quite obvious...but work people said they notice around 11-12...good luck!
  • My IVF bloat never went away - so I really haven't buttoned the top of any of my pants since mid December when we were doing all this. ?Most of my work knows already since we're so close, but my students have been asking questions (they really don't know better). ?DH and I are actually going to the mall tonight to Motherhood Mat. to look into some pants. ?It's getting pretty bad.

I think I'm showing super fast because I have no hips (just straight down) and am very small - so they literally have nowhere to go but out!?

  • i told my boss at 16 wks.
  • I carried them in my belly. People that know me well were able to tell early. A stranger congratulated me at 12w. I started wearing maternity pants at 8 weeks.?

  • I had a tom of blat early on because of IVF so I know what you mean. The bella band does help. I thought I would be wearing maternity at 6 weeks but it went down somewhat, or didn't get worse and I actually didn't wear maternity until week 11, which is when I told work.
  • Strangers were rubbing my belly at 14w! ?I?think that I told work around 12w. ?I'm on the small side though (5'4" & size 6 pre-pg).
  • I was in my maternity pants by 11-12 weeks, but this is my second pregnancy so I popped much earlier.
