Bumbo vs. Bebe Pod...whats better? Why?

Re: Bumbo vs. Bebe Pod...whats better? Why?

  • The bumbo seat is softer than the bebe pod.

I don't particularly like either because they don't teach the child to sit up on their own. It props the child up and doesn't allow them to use their own muscles to figure out how to sit or hold their body upright.

  • I got a bumbo chair from a friend. She has triplets and used them with all of her girls. I have never heard of a bebe pod?!
  • they are pretty much the same.

there's no reason not to use them- as all things baby - do not use all day long.

my son loved his bumbo seat - b/c he got a different view of things and i could feed him easily early on that way. We used it from about 3months + until he could sit on his own well.

he learned to sit at 6mos, like the average baby - so it does NOT inhibit them learning to sit on their own in anyway.

  • I recall from last time around that the Bumbo has narrower leg holes than the Bebe pod.  My DD is a skinny-mini so it didn't matter.  I liked it b/c it gave her a little bit of sitting up practice without me holding her in that position.  Plus, when she started solids she wasn't big enough for a high chair yet, so I would take her and the bumbo out on the deck, feed her in the bumbo, then hose it down- big bonus!  My friend, who is an OT, recommended the Bumbo to me for developing core muscles needed for sitting independently and crawling...  I will be getting another so I have one for each baby.

Yup, the bumbo has thinner leg slots thand the Bebe - otherwise there is no difference.
