if so, at what week in your pregnancy did they decide to change it and why?
i have had a nagging feeling that my due date is off, bc i have always been very irregular and even more so since having a baby just a year before getting pg again (between having ava and getting pg again, i had 3 very irregular periods).
i have had my u/s but only saw the tech, who gave me very limited information (basically fluid levels look good- your mw will go over things with you at your next appt). i still haven't seen my mw since then (next appt is next week). i'm assuming things are fine since they haven't called me to come in sooner b/c of the u/s results, but i'm interested to see what they say about the due date if anything.
another reason i feel like my feelings are being confirmed about my due date being off is that in the past 2-3 weeks i've been having a lot of symptoms that i didn't notice until much closer to delivery with ava. i know it's normal for things to happen sooner in subsequent pregnancies, but while these symptoms started off slowly at first, they are now becoming more consistent- like everyday i am feeling A LOT of pressure, it feels like the baby is very low, i've been having a lot of bh (even slighly painful ones) and cramping. it doesn't concern like i'm going into pre-term labor or anything like that. i had all of these things happen in my last pregnancy and know that they are normal, just not nearly as early.
at the same time, it seems like they would know by 24 weeks if my due date wasn't correct, so i'm just wondering how late in the game can they decide to change this? thanks and sorry for rambling!
Re: has anyone ever had their due date changed?
Married to my BFF on 8.13.05 (after dating 5 years)!
DS born 2.14.08. DD born 9.30.09.
It happened to a friend of mine with her first son. She wasn't sure exactly when she conceived, and was given a due date of June 10, but then in May, after another ultrasound, they said she would have the baby between June 10 and early July because the date were off. This totally blew my mind, but she ended up going into labor on June 8 or 9.
FWIW, I believe the earlier ultrasounds are most accurate. My 12 week ultrasound and my 21 week ultrasound were exact to the day of the week (said 12w4d, etc.) because I knew when I ovulated. But by 28 weeks and 32 weeks, the dates on the u/s were way off by entire weeks. By the end, they were off by a month or more because she was tiny and measurements were difficult.
Keep us updated!
The low part would concern me the most... maybe call your OB just in case? I'd still say it's probably a little early for bh to be that noticeable.
FWIW, my mom had BH contractions all the way through her pregnancies. So much so that when it came time to deliver, all she ever had was one HUGE contraction and out we came. I took 4 hours to deliver and I'm the oldest; sis#1 was 2 hours; sis #3 was 30 minutes. By the time my brother came along, my mom was TOLD to go to the hospital when her OB was working, and he would break her water. He did not want her to go into labor on her own. Moreover, she got her epi before he even broke her water.
The sad part is I didn't get those genes. B took 15.5 hours, and that was with pitocin and 3 cm/75% effaced before it went in...
kel716- i'm not too concerned about the bh being noticeable, they started about the same time with my last pregnancy but i don't remember them being as painful or any of the other symptoms until much closer to delivery. however, i did lose my mp and have to have labor stopped at exactly 35 weeks with ava, so i will definitely be cautious. i have already had one call put in to the on call mw in this pregnancy- but so far everything is going normally.
also, i think i got your mom's genes, lol. i also just seemed to have one huge contraction throughout my labor- they were less than 5 mins. apart as soon as labor started, and quickly turned into contractions i couldn't even breathe through b/c they were all just running together. it was very soon that i felt like i had to push, and since i had a mw birth and all i was encouraged to labor at home as long as i felt like i could (and i was okay with this and wanted to do this) but by the time i got to the hospital i felt like i had to hold my hands over my crotch on the way to l&d to keep her in, lol! next time i will know i need to get going a little sooner.
