Hospital with private birthing suites and place for Dad to sleep?

Please help! I am supposed to deliver at Mission hospital in Mission Viejo, but  it doesnt look like the suites are private. I delivered my first daughter in an amazing hospital in Houston and am a bit spoiled - it had a pull out couch for Dad and labor/delivery and recovery all took place in the same room. Anything like that in this area? Thanks!

  • At Hoag you labor and deliver in a private room, then move to a recovery room (also private) that has a pull-out couch.

  • I delivered at Mission. All rooms were private. Why do you think they are not?

Really? I plan to call tomorrow, but the photo online looks like their is a curtain divider in the room... I hope I am wrong. How was your experience there? Where did your husband sleep? How were the nurses? Did they encourage breastfeeding? Thanks for all your help!

  • I delivered at Saddleback.  You do everything in one room there.  The only thing is if they get really full then they might move you to a private room after the first day.  Not a big deal and still somewhere for dad to sleep.
  • I had both my kids at Mission and always had a private room. ?They have a pull out chair thing (like a mini version of the pull out couch) for dads to sleep on. ?I sent my husband home though to get some rest at night. ?They are very for breast feeding but wont beat you up if you dont.

?Oh and both were great experiences. ?They were mid remodeling when I had ds, Im thinking they are probably done now or just about.?

  • Great, I think I will probably stick with Mission then. I didn't want to switch, but started worrying that I would be sharing with another woman while in labor and DH wouldn't have anywhere to go. I definitely plan to tour the hospital soon. Thanks again!
  • Mission was great. I am going to back there for my next baby. (whenever that is). I actually picked my hospital and then I picked my OB. Def. take the tour. It was nice to see where you are going to be. This helped to calm me a bit. I think they have them once a month. Just make sure you actually go threw the walking tour where you go in the hospital. some people left early and did not do that, and I think they missed out. I had a planned CS. CS/Recovery/ and 4 night stay were all private rooms. Everyone was wonderful. There is a place for DH to sleep. it's a pull out bed. But I too sent my husband home after the first night becuase he snors and I need some sleep! They are very helpful when it comes to breastfeeding, and even have a store there incase you need anything! I think mission prides themselves on having all private rooms. GL!
  • I had an amazing experience at Mission.  Not only were they private but most have been recently remodeled and DH said the sleep area was fine.  They encourage DH's to stay and babies in room.
  • I had a great experience at mission too.. They recently remodeled the maternity floor and our room was completely private, very nice and a comfy couch/bed thing for my husband. The nurses were wonderful and lactation specialist were available every day. Depending on how many other moms are on the floor when you're there, you may have to be a bit "aggressive" about making sure lactation spends as much time as you need w/ them.

All in all my experience was great...:)
