Disappointing 1st appt

in 1st Trimester
I had my first OB appt. yesterday. They did an internal ultrasound to check for the baby's HB.  They were not able to find one or a baby. The Dr. was only able to identify a yolk sak. The Dr. said it may just be too early and  has me coming back in about a week. It's difficult to stay positive as I am not the optomistic type.

    Its very tough to wait! The same thing happened to me. It just looked like a little black hole. I went back at 10 weeks and things were ok. The baby was moving (very emotional for me) and squirming ! It will be OK. Im stressed too because they said they would do another ultrasound at 18 weeks and now they wont. I have to wait another month before we find out the sex. You will find yourself doing this the whole pregnancy! Trust me. Things are gonna be fine. It flies by before you know it!

    I went at 5 weeks and 1 day for a u/s and they only saw a sac and yolk sac. Then I went back at 6 weeks and 1 day and we say a tiny baby with a tiny heartbeat. And this was just this week on Wed. So i hope that gives you some positives!!!!

    I wouldn't worry too much, you are still so early!  My doctor won't even do ultrasounds before 7-8 weeks just because he says there's nothing to see!

    When I went to my first appointment at 8wks, they didnt even do an u/s. I was so disappointed because I wanted to see/hear a sign that my baby was actually there. I have my first u/s at 12wks, but luckily with an at home doppler I was able to hear the heartbeat, which eased my anxiety. Anyway I know its easy to worry, but stay positive.

    I'm late on this so hopefully you'll see it.  I had an ultrasound at 5w5d and they also only saw the yolk sac.  I was stressed out too.  And then I remembered that the same thing happened with my first pregnancy and I looked at that ultrasound and it was 5w4d.  So hopefully for both of us it was just too early.  You're so lucky your doctor is having you come back in a week...mine is making me wait 3 weeks!  ARGH.  Keep us posted.
