This kind of thing makes me pretty upset. Not that I think people shouldn't be allowed to have lots of children but I think you have to stop and think about the well being of all your children, whether you can provide for them or not, and how you will be able to give 14 or however many kids the individual love and attention they deserve. This article gives the impression that all of these things might not have been weighed as they should have but it is just news so the information might be wrong. I get the feeling a horrible fertility doctor was playing God with this woman.
Now I'm not gonna get on soap box and talk like I'm better than someone...seriously world...do whatever you want. But I will say that stories like this is WHY us MoMs get asked about fertility treatments. Seriously...with all the TLC shows out there with billions of kids, I swear it creates this cirucs show that the real-life-twin-moms have to deal with.
yeah, this is why whenever I tell someone that we did IVF, I get the comment "well, you're lucky you didn't end up w/sextuplets like that woman on TV". ?I just want to scream "THESE PEOPLE DIDN'T DO IVF & THEIR DOCTOR WAS IRRESPONSIBLE, YOU IDIOT!!!!"
That is just insane. I thought the same thing, she and her six - now 14 - kids live with her mom and dad. Surely she could have been happy with the first six and didn't need to pursue fertility treatment for even 1 let alone 8 more. This story is unreal.
This is exactly why I didn't want to tell certain people we did IVF. I think 14 kids is ridiculous. Our clinic wouldn't allow us to transfer more than 2 at once. A friend of ours went to a different clinic and they transferred 8 knowing that all 8 could potentially take. I remember the drive home that night and mh and I both saying to each other that no matter what we would not transfer 8.
That story really doesn't add up - single mother of 6, living with parents, goes through fertility treatment? ?I dunno. ?Unless I see the story on CNN, I'll remain a skeptic.
Re: Woman w/octuplets already has 6
"Hey thats a lot of toilet paper"...
That is my dad's response when he hears about multiples-especially if there are girls involved. In his world children = toilet paper.
What the hell? That story just doesn't add up!
