Oww

So I've been getting really bad cramps in my calves. I know this is totally normal (thank you dr google) Just wondering if anybody is suffering from the same problem and what you do to get rid of the cramps. I heard flexing your foot towards your body but that didn't really seem to help them much.

  • I haven't had many muscle cramps so far, but I got some pretty wicked ones with the stomach flu (got dehydrated).  To immediately break a cramp, my mother taught me to stretch the muscle that is cramping.  As much as it hurts, it works pretty immediately.  To prevent/treat cramps, stay hydrated with lots of water, and make sure you're getting plenty of electrolytes (calcium and potassium are the two biggies for muscle cramping).  My mom would always eat a banana or chug a glass of OJ and that seemed to help.  Gatorade would work as well.  Good luck - muscle cramps can be killers!

  • I have had some pretty wicked ones as well, and they always seem to hit me in the middle of the night. DH usually rubs them out for me because I can barely do anything but rock back and forth in agony... or I get up and walk on it. It hurts SO bad to do it, but its the quickest way that I have found to get rid of them.
    Good luck!!
  • yes yes yes me me me

mine started hurting Monday night, and I took a HPT yesterday morning and got a BFP. They hurt (like a dull, achy pain for me) just about all day Tuesday and Wednesday - worse at night than in the morning. I woke up this morning and they felt better. I haven't had too much pain today, except in my right hip. So, I think its going to be a coming and going thing.

I took some tylenol via advice of my nurse, but it never really seemed to help. If you do some pointing and flexing of your toes it may help... but, I'm kind of like you, nothing really helped. Oh, and some people say to sit or lay so that your feet are elevated above your waist...

Feel better soon! Just know I'm here to whine and complain to because I'll do the same to you :)

  • I've heard that bananas help with leg cramps. Seriously.
