Multiples

::: waves hello to the board :::

Hi, ladies!  I'm a regular over on 6-12 who just found out this morning that I'm having twins.  I'm thrilled to be pregnant again but am feeling overwhelmed right now.

Here is my plan thus far:

1.  stop hyperventilating and try not to have a heart attack.

2.  learn about the ins and outs of pregnancy with twins.

3.  do other stuff in preparation for *gulp* twins.  Holy sh!t!  Twins!  OMG!

4.  return to step 1 if necessary.

So... Any advice, especially on steps 1 and 2 of my brilliant plan?  Thanks!

Re: ::: waves hello to the board :::

  • LOL!

First of all, congrats on twins.  Second of all, it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed - I still feel overwhlemed from time to time!

Right now, I'd just take the time to let it sink in a little.  Get yourself Dr. Barbara Luke's book (When You're Expecting Twins . . .) for all the wonderful things you'll need to know and do while pregnant with twins.  Oh, and don't forget to breathe.  =)

There are a few women on here with 3 under 3, so they should be great sources of advice and support.  Best of luck and welcome to the board.

  • As the PP poster said, first thing - let it sink in!!  We've all been there!  Congratulations!  My son was older than your first when I found out, but it is incredibly overwhelming to find out there are 2, after one!  :)  Dr Luke's book is great, I would get that one!   Congratulations, and welcome to the board!
  • Welcome to twindom!!

The day after I found out I was pg with twins I had a massive headache- I think it was the nest implanting itself- lol.

Congrats to you and your family!

  • Congratulations!  I was overwhelmed when I first found out, too-- ok, I still am sometimes, but I am thrilled and I focus on how amazing this is for our family.  I will also have three under 2, so I know how you feel!  Best of luck for a happy and healthy pg!
  • Congrats! Yes, it is definitely overwhelming at first. But, twins are so much fun.

A few words of advice: Sleep while you can, pray you don't get morning sickness, say goodbye to the breasts and small nipples you once knew, and hang on tight and get ready for the ride of your life !

:) Welcome to the multiples board!

  • i'm so excited to have you on the board. you seem like lots of fun! ?congrats and good luck. ?you'll be fine, don't think about it too much, it'll get you nowhere. you figure it all out in due time.

  • Congratulations and welcome! I was totally overwhelmed and not quite happily so at first. It does get better! I agree, check out Dr. Barbara Luke's book and ask this board a ton of questions. Everyone here is great.

Best of luck in your pregnancy!

  • Congratulations and welcome to the board!  And don't worry the hyperventilating stops by the third trimester when your uterus gets so big it presses up in your abdomen and your lungs can't hyperventilate even if you tried.
  • ok you gave me a good giggle..

congrats!!!! as everyone says let it take a few weeks to sink in. I don't think I spoke for two weeks after I found out and was complety numb. Now I cannot imagine my life without my two little buggers.
