Anyone had a VBAC after 2 c-sections? (Repost from 2nd-Tri. board)

I had a c-section with my first, two VBACs in between, and a c-section with my last.  I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that has had success with a VBAC after 2 c-sections.  I'm trying to weight the risks of one versus the other....I've talked to my dr. about it, and we'll talk some more, but I was wondering if there was anyone who had actually experienced it with their dr.'s blessing.

  • I was NOT allowed. But I had 2 c/s's in a row and this was my 3rd. There is no OB in the state of NJ that would perform a VBAC after 2c/s's (in a row).

    GL to you!?

Ditto this - I've had 2 c/s in row - this will be my 3rd.  No docs in KY or OH that will perform a VBA2C.  Not a chance... too risky.

Makes me sad... I don't regret my first 2 c/s because they were both very medically necessary but I'm not happy about it.

  • My local hospital will not do VBAC's. They don't have a 24 hour OB at the hospital.

Hospital policies may dictate what happens in this situation.

  • Since I had two successful VBACs in between the c-sections, my dr. said that if everything lines up perfectly, they'd let me go for it, but the chances of that are slim.  I know that there are people on both sides of the fence when it comes to this issue.....I think I'm currently riding the fence and was wondering what other people's thoughts/experiences were.
  • I only had one c-section but my doctor is letting me try the vbac. My first was breech so if everything goes according to plan this time, I will deliver vaginally. She said the risk is the tearing of the scar tissue but that studies and previous cases show a 0.5% chance of that happening.  It's not even 1%.  She seemed very confident yet wanted it to be my choice.
  • My OB won't do VBAC, but that's fine with me.  I didn't plan the first c/s, but the kid had other ideas. I had a great c/s experience though, and I love my OB.  I'm not a fan of the resultant "c-shelf", but that's my only c/s complaint. And as a bonus, I love Kitcats perfectly round head!  Yes

I was also very happy that I didn't have to blow out my vag or have to deal with sitting on a donut.  I've heard some stories that make my emergency c/s seem like a walk in the park!  I read one story about a woman's labia being torn off by her baby's fingernail on the way out?  Yeah, no thanks.

  • I much preferred my second VBAC to either of my two c-sections.  The first VBAC was horrible, but I've been told they get easier with each one.  Also, having a c-section with your first is much different than trying to recover from a c-section while having to chase a little one around.  You find you can't take it as easy and it takes quite a bit longer to heal.  This is why I don't want another c-sections, but I guess I'll have to take whatever happens!
