Ladies who had gallbladder issues, please come in

I'm just curious what your symptoms were when your gallbladder made you sick.

I was puking for most of the day on Monday eventhough I hadn't eaten anything since the night before.  Then I was feeling better and able to eat by that night.  I've been fine for the last few days and then I wake up with stomach pain again this morning.  I just finally puked again and felt a *little* bit better.  I have an urgent care appointment tonight at 6:45 PST, but I'm just trying to figure out what could be doing this to be.

  • And on top of it all, DH is at work (he was off on Monday) and doesn't have anyone to cover and I don't have anyone to come help me with Carter.  So I'm trying to take care of him in between cramps/puking.  :(

  • the only times I threw up is when I was in so much pain that it seemed like the best thing to do.

I had no idea it was my gall bladder.  I went to bed "not feeling well" - sort of like my tummy was crampy but not really.

my first attack, I woke up about midnight and was very uncomfortable.  It felt like my gut was tied up in a VERY TIGHT, not moving KNOT... I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move, it just hurt.  It was  a constant pain and I felt like I just wanted to pass gas, or burp or vomit or SOMETHING.

When horses get colic, their intestines will actually tie up in a knot... this is what I felt like (and now that I know what it is, it is actually some sort of "colic").

I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 5 ish.  I rolled over and it felt like someone had stabbed me in the upper back.  I was in the worst pain of my life.  I could hardly walk, I just wanted to run away from the pain.  Then I vomited but the pain did not subside whatsoever.

I never had another attack as severe as the first but they all felt like my gut (stomach, intestines, everything) was all in a big tight knot

  • Thank you for sharing your experience.  I just want to know what is going on!  I'm tired of being sick!  My stomach just HURTS!  Sort of a burning, tight, crampy feeling.  It is so hard to take care of Carter when I feel so shiitty!
  • it could be it.  I ended up having stones so I think the feeling was worse than if your GB is just not working. My other 'attacks' were much more mild than my first one but they were still very uncomfortable.  When I would get one I would lay very still (usually sort of half on my side/stomach hanging off the edge of the bed) to try to get the stone to pass

Ask your GP about getting you an abdominal u/s to check for stones, then a HIDA scan to see if it's working... do the u/s first though because it's easy and you don't have to deal with the test (which I've heard is not fun)

  • when i have an attack it feels like someone punched me or like i landed flat on my back hard. like i got the wind knocked out of me, but 10 times more pain.?

I only threw up 1x from the pain being so bad. ?

  • Yeah, I want them to do something tonight to figure out what this is.  I don't want to leave there without answers or a plan to figure out what is going on.
